All About the Treats

Hi friends! Today I'm popping in with a couple of cute Halloween treat holders. I don't know what it is but this year I'm super excited about all things Halloween. Maybe it's me rebelling from having to create Christmas cards in August, or maybe it's just an excuse to use a different color palette, or more likely... an excuse to have candy in the house. (For photography purposes only. LOL) Anyhow, I've made a plethora of crafty purchases containing Halloween stamps, so I might as well use them, right?

The stamp set I'm featuring today is the All About the Boos set from Sassy & Crafty. I colored up two of the ghoties with Copic markers, then fussy cut.  The treat holders are made with the Pocket Tag Die from Jaded Blossom.  I cut them from cardstock, then added designer paper from my Halloween stash to decorate.  They fit a snack size m&m bag perfectly!  A little glitter and some twine and sentiments from the set finish them off quickly. I'm pretty sure my boys will love them.

Brave Strong Wild

Hi friends! Today I'm popping in with a just for fun kind of card featuring Sassy & Crafty Stamps.

Over the past several months, I've really been trying to be consistent at practicing my coloring skills.  I'm just starting to try to tackle my nemesis - faces. This particular image from the Brave, Strong, Wild set didn't feel as daunting of a start since it's only a partial face and there's not a lot of coloring needed for the hair. That being said, I struggled with the markers I had on hand when I was coloring and her skin came out more yellow than the olive complexion I was hoping for. I did have a lot of fun doing those wispy little hairs framing her forehead, and who doesn't love a little aqua eye shadow?

I thought it would be fun to have her peeking out from behind some flowers, so I picked the lotus from the Find Yourself set and stamped, masked, and stamped a curve across a panel of white cardstock. I then colored with Copics and fussy cut, to pop up over her on dimensional tape.  I added a sentiment from Sassy Girls: OMG to this panel, then stamped the title sentiment from Brave, Strong Wild, cut it out and matted on a black sentiment strip die cut.  A few glitzy enamel dots finish things off.

Pixie Dust

Hi friends! Welcome to the weekend! I'm excited to share this fun card with you today.  I hadn't done a galaxy background in a while, so decided to pull out my distress inks to create a scene for the darling fairy from the Never Grow Up set from Sassy & Crafty.

After blending the inks, I splattered a bit of water, then lifted with a paper towel.  Then I splattered some white and black inks across the background.  When that was dry, I pulled out the Stars & Moon Stencil Pack and stenciled on some iridescent glitter gel. I love that sparkle!

The fairy was colored with Copics during one of my boys' very hot tennis lessons. I hand trimmed around her, then added a bit of stickles for some shine.  The sentiment is a mash-up created by masking off certain words from sentiments in the Never Grow Up and Dinorawr sets. I stamped the star sprinkle behind it, and then accented with a flower from the Never Grow Up set to finish things off.

Sassy & Crafty has moved to quarterly releases, which gives them a chance to restock and re-release some of the fabulous sets they've discontinued. There's a brand new re-stock in the shop today, including:

Fur-bulous You

How adorable are these sweet kitties from the new Love Your Look set from Sassy & Crafty? It's no secret that I'm a cat lover, and these little kitties totally make me smile.  I colored them up with Copic markers, then hand trimmed to layer onto a galaxy background I created using the new Outer Space Magicals from Lindy's Gang. I hadn't created a galaxy in a while, and this was so much fun.  When it was how I wanted it, I laid out my kitties, then drew lines and dots to form a constellation of fur-bulous kittens!

I added this to a distress oxide background from my stash. I'm still working through all my backgrounds from the Creative Chick workshop I took. This one used peacock feathers and wilted violet distress inks on the top and the same colors in oxides on the bottom.

Crafty Cat

Hi friends! Today I'm popping in with a fun slimline card with a mash-up of products from Sassy & Crafty.  This sweet kitty was just calling my name to be colored the other day when I was trying out some Arteza alcohol markers.  Definitely not up to Copic standards, but they'll do for what I wanted... an easily portable collection to color with in the backyard or in the car during (hopefully) the boys' tennis lessons this summer. I'm super hopeful that they'll get to participate in activities this summer, as both hubby and I have already had our first dose of the vaccine and cases are trending down in our area. With four asthmatics (five if you count the cat) in the house, we've been very cautious.

Anyhow, you're here for the card, not my babble, so let's do this.  I colored up the cat from the Love in an Envelope Set while enjoying the sun in my backyard.  I hand trimmed around the image, then once I was inside, I started work on the background.  I first stenciled with the Bouncy Path Stencil in purple, then pulled out the Sassy Girls - Crafty set.

I stamped the paint tubes, brushes and pencils randomly in the background, then colored in coordinating colors.  Then I stamped the crafting does count as exercise sentiment on a strip of white cardstock and accented with rhinestones to layer over the card.  Then it was just a matter of gluing things down, popping up the cat image and sentiment on foam tape for dimension.

Chocolate Therapy

There's an awesome new release in the Sassy & Crafty shop today, and while this card doesn't feature any new products, there will definitely be some cards in the future with this month's release.

I've had this Sassy Girls - Sweet stamp set for a while now and decided it needed to be inked up the other day.  I colored her up with Copics, then stamped the sentiment below her.  Isn't that a great sentiment. I have a regular need for chocolate... and coffee!

The background started with white paper which I rubbed with Catherine Pooler ink. I then used the Donut Sprinkle stencil to add the paper glaze sprinkle and then traced the edge of the stencil to fussy cut the drips.  I finished with some patterned paper behind the panel and blended a darker brown ink around the edges for some depth.

One Call

Hi friends! It's time for another fabulous new release at Sassy & Crafty! There are six new stamp sets and six new stencils in the shop! Hooray!

Confession... I absolutely LOVE the Sassy Girls line of stamps, but this is the first one I've actually made a card with. I've been so intimidated by coloring skin. But I've watched tons of Sassy & Crafty YouTube videos, with lots of tips and coloring how-to's and I finally decided to get over myself and try it! And I'm so glad I did. She was so fun to color! She's from the new Sassy Girls - Chatty set, and the sentiments in this set totally crack me up.

I picked the talking to you is all the therapy I need sentiment and stamped it onto white cardstock. I then used the Comic Book Stencil to stencil the speech bubble with a pencil and hand trimmed, blending purple inks to give it a little color.

The background is done with the Wonky Stripe Stencil with black soot ink. I finished with some black matting and a white card base.

Sassy & Crafty Stamps March 2021 Release

Flutter by Butterfly

Hi friends! There's a brand new release in the Sassy & Crafty shop! It's filled with oodles of fabulous new stamps & stencils. I've been in a mixed media mood lately, so that's where I went with today's card featuring the new Flutter By Butterfly set. 

Isn't this butterfly spectacular? I had so much fun coloring it up with Copics in a palette of reds and yellows. I added a few white gel pen accents then trimmed around the edges and set it aside to work on the background.  I did a bit of smooshing with yellow and red distress oxides, then stenciled a bit with the previously released Spiral Shift Stencil.  I stenciled it on partially  in places that would give movement to this fabulous butterfly. I love how well this stencil works with this set.

Next I took another smooshed panel and added the sentiment, then cut it apart and added some black outlines with a stabilo pencil.  I added black splatters to the background and also more black to the outer edges with the stabilo pencil and a baby wipe.  The believe sentiment is from the previously released Be Jolly, By Golly set.  These kittens have come back to play this month in the adorable What's Up Buttercup set, so be sure to check it out.  I added the sentiment with a tiny attacher, then distressed the edges of all my layers and popped up my butterfly to finish things off.

Positive Vibes

Hi friends! Who could use some positive vibes? Definitely me! One of my favorite outlets when I'm feeling anxious is music and crafting.  I combined the two for this card using the new Hippie Patches stamp set from Sassy & Crafty.

 

I started with what I call the Scoob mobile. LOL. I actually wasn't allowed to watch Scooby Doo when I was a kid, but somehow I managed to sneak it whenever my Mom wasn't home or when I was at a friends' house. I know, I'm such a rebel! Anyhow, I colored the van with copic markers and then added the sentiment and some of the music, heart, and star elements from the Hippie Patches set.

I stenciled some small hearts around the panel, then accented with a couple of wood veneer music notes from the Sing Sassy Pack, which I coated with distress oxide ink and embossed with sparkle embossing powder.  A turquoise mat and a slimline base finishes things off.

Flower Child

Hey friends! I'm popping in with a card for the Sassy & Crafty release! Seven  brand new stamp sets and six stencils are available in the shop.

I love whimsical flower stamps, so the new Flower Child set is totally up my alley.  This stay trippy little hippy sentiment cracked me up as soon as I read it, so I just had to use it.

I colored the sweet flower child image with Copic markers, then trimmed with scissors.  I also colored a few of the flowers from the set in coordinating colors, then fussy cut and added some white gel pen accents before layering behind and in front of the girl.  

Next I had some stencil fun! One of my favorite things from the 70's were those beads hanging down from doorways. My first memory of them was at a friend's house when I was only four, I'm pretty sure anything sparkly caught my eye at that age! When I think about it, not much has changed over the years. LOL Anyhow, the previously released Party Time Stencil totally reminds me of those beads, so I thought it would make the perfect backdrop for my sweet flower girl.  I stenciled with pink & yellow distress oxides, then accented the "beads" with nuvo glitter drops.

I really wanted the girl to shine, so I aligned the Comic Book Stencil on a panel so that the center would be near where I wanted to place her head, then blended distress oxides for a little radiant background.  Some black mats for contrast finish off this fun card.

Hello Rainbow

Hi friends! Today I'm popping in with a sneaky peek of tomorrow's release from Sassy & Crafty.

This Hippie Patches set brings on memories of my childhood, especially of smiley face t-shirts. Everywhere you looked someone had a smiley shirt on! No wonder they seemed like happier times.

So I masked the smiley, lining them up in a row and coloring with Copics in a rainbow of happiness.  Above I added the hello patch, colored in the same palette, then matted the panel with some black cardstock and a scallop die cut.

The background is the Ziggy Diamond Stencil, which I blended with distress oxide inks. After pulling off the stencil, I thought it needed a bit more something, so I placed the stencil down again and went over just the top and bottom rows with white glitz glitter paste. Love the sparkle!

Shake it Up

Hi friends! I'm popping in today with a fun little card using some goodies from Sassy & Crafty.

On Friday afternoon Mark took a fun little cocktail making zoom class as a team building event at work.  I stamped, and he shook things up while wearing his headphones.  This little penguin from Shake It Up Baby reminded me of him, and I added the martini glass from Cheers. We celebrated our 23rd anniversary on Sunday, so this was a great way to kick off our anniversary weekend.... me stamping, and him bringing me cocktails! LOL. 

My stamped images are colored with comic markers and then treated with a healthy amount of glossy accents and glitter!  The background is the new Abstract Art stencil.  I ink blending with distress oxides, then cleaned off the stencil and coated with iridescent Glitz glitter gel. It's sooooooo sparkly!

Thankful Grateful Blessed + Tons of Sales

Hi friends! It's hard to believe we're just a day away from Thanksgiving. This year has seemed like time stood still, while at the same time speeding forward. So strange of a time in history. As time speeds slowly by, I think I will look back on this year and be most grateful for the chance to spend time with my loved ones. Once the kids reach school age, it's so rare to get pajama days with no appointments, practices, or other commitments. It feels like even though it's been a VERY tough year, we've been given a great gift of time. Time we will cherish when our boys are grown and living elsewhere. My heart is full. As I look at the card above, I'm reminded of just how quickly time passes.  I created this card 10 years ago, and yet it feels like yesterday.  It's still one of my favorite Verve cards ever. He HAS made everything beautiful in its time.

Another thing I'm so very thankful for this year is the creative outlet of stamping. I'm so blessed to have been able to design for a fabulous list of companies this year. An excuse to close the door from all the twin angst and just spend an hour with my art has been a lifeline throughout this year. Latte Love - Coffee Lovers Blog Hop Day 5 & 6

Hi friends. I'm popping in with two days worth of cards for the Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.  

First up is this fun little card using the Pumpkin Spice stamp set from Sassy & Crafty. I stamped the java cup in the center, then masked with a post-it note and stamped on either side of it for a trio of cups.  Y'all know I can't get enough of aqua and brown, so that's where I started with my color inspiration.

The cups are colored with Copics, then I loosely masked off the area and blended speckled egg distress oxide  around the edges of the background panel.  Next I splattered with a bit of watered down speckled egg ink and some white glimmer metallic ink.

For the sentiment, I did a little more masking, replacing the PUMPKIN sentiment with LATTE and stamping as a long strip.  I cut this with a sentiment banner die, then added a stamped, colored and fussy cut leaf from the Pumpkin Spice set as accent.

My next card uses the new Falalalalatte set from Stamplorations.  I stamped the cup image, then colored with Arteza twimarkers and fussy cut.  The tag and background panels are cut with  Photo Play Paper Scallop Tags Dies.  I added the sentiment on a banner strip and finished with some ribbon and a few black rhinestones.
