You Had Me at Books

Hey crafty friends! Today I'm playing along with the This or That hop over on Instagram. The theme this week is CATS or DOGS. Since I am a cat person through and through there wasn't even a contest on which I would choose!

I've had the Tales of Friendship set from Not 2 Shabby unopened on my shelf for a few months now, so decided it was a purr-fectly good time to pull it out and play. I knew I wanted to use papers from the new The Blue Seas pad, so selected them first. Next I picked my Copic color palette, pulling out some BG70's and E30's and Warm Grays for my furry friend. I stamped with alcohol safe4 black ink, then colored, highlighting the kitty with a stardust glitter pen and some glossy glaze for her shiny eyes.

The sentiment is from the Books Galore paper pad, which has several book themed sentiments on one of the papers. I cut it with a circle die, then inked the edges of my papers with frayed burlap ink and layered together.

Love Cats

Hi crafty friends! Today I'm popping in with a little Valentine's duo created with the Love Cats paper and ephemera from Not 2 Shabby. I've been trying to be a bit more mindful about what products I purchase for crafting, since 30 years of collecting gets you a whole mountain of supplies. So when this collection released last month, I initially resisted purchasing since I have lots of Valentines products already. But as the month progressed and I saw so many darling cards being created, my FOMO got the better of me and I had to have it,. In return I promised myself I would at least make two cards with it before the season was over.

You know what? I had SO much fun crafting with these kitties and am so glad I purchased them! They really are adorable, and since we're a two cat home and hubby's birthday and Valentine's day are this month, I figured I could make both a birthday card and a Valentine's Day card for him.

For this first card, I picked a couple of sheets from the Love Cats paper pack that I wanted to use, then cut a background piece from one and a big stitched heart from the other. I pulled in the solo boy cat, the envelope and the sentiment from the Love Cats Ephemera.  I wanted a bit bigger of a heart for the sentiment, so fussy cut one of the hearts from the ephemera, then coated with glossy accents and glitter before adding over the original heart.  I chose some gray mats to frame my pieces and finished with a little glossy accents on his eyes and nose.

For the next card, I arranged some of the pieces I had left over from the other card and glued them together for the same sized background.  I accented the seam with a Love from Lizi peel off sticker. I then cut a rectangle to ground my ephemera collage and embossed with gold card stock.  I picked a few pieces of ephemera to create the focal point, embossing the XOXO sentiment from the Mini Messages set that was only available in the Festive Christmas bundle directly onto one of the hearts.

I love how these turned out and I know my hubby will love them too. Because cats. {grin}

Meet Meow at the Tiki Bar

Hi friends! Today I'm popping in to share a little Jaded Blossom inspiration with you. Our family is pretty excited to be adopting a kitten this afternoon, and in his honor I have prepared a cat card, tiki style.

This little kitty is from the adorable Mew Did It set and I colored him with alcohol markers then cut with the coordinating die.  The tiki bar is built with the Build a Booth Die, and Build a Booth Die: Tiki Add Ons. I used both the hibiscus and leaf banners cut from colored cardstock.  The tiki torch is from the Gnome Dies: Tiki Add Ons, adding a bit of shading with alochol markers.

The pina colada is from the Tiki Hut Dies. I used some a white paint pen to give that creamy colada look, then created a teeny pineapple wedge from a circle die cut to accent the cup.

The sentiment is from the Pineapples for Sale set. I love how the sentiments all fit the die from the orgiinal Build a Booth Die.

Fur-bulous You

How adorable are these sweet kitties from the new Love Your Look set from Sassy & Crafty? It's no secret that I'm a cat lover, and these little kitties totally make me smile.  I colored them up with Copic markers, then hand trimmed to layer onto a galaxy background I created using the new Outer Space Magicals from Lindy's Gang. I hadn't created a galaxy in a while, and this was so much fun.  When it was how I wanted it, I laid out my kitties, then drew lines and dots to form a constellation of fur-bulous kittens!

I added this to a distress oxide background from my stash. I'm still working through all my backgrounds from the Creative Chick workshop I took. This one used peacock feathers and wilted violet distress inks on the top and the same colors in oxides on the bottom.

Crafty Cat

Hi friends! Today I'm popping in with a fun slimline card with a mash-up of products from Sassy & Crafty.  This sweet kitty was just calling my name to be colored the other day when I was trying out some Arteza alcohol markers.  Definitely not up to Copic standards, but they'll do for what I wanted... an easily portable collection to color with in the backyard or in the car during (hopefully) the boys' tennis lessons this summer. I'm super hopeful that they'll get to participate in activities this summer, as both hubby and I have already had our first dose of the vaccine and cases are trending down in our area. With four asthmatics (five if you count the cat) in the house, we've been very cautious.

Anyhow, you're here for the card, not my babble, so let's do this.  I colored up the cat from the Love in an Envelope Set while enjoying the sun in my backyard.  I hand trimmed around the image, then once I was inside, I started work on the background.  I first stenciled with the Bouncy Path Stencil in purple, then pulled out the Sassy Girls - Crafty set.

I stamped the paint tubes, brushes and pencils randomly in the background, then colored in coordinating colors.  Then I stamped the crafting does count as exercise sentiment on a strip of white cardstock and accented with rhinestones to layer over the card.  Then it was just a matter of gluing things down, popping up the cat image and sentiment on foam tape for dimension.

Mojo Monday 528

Hi everyone! I'm back from my sketch creating vacation and ready to roll with a new year of Mojo Monday! If you're new, I post a sketch every other Monday and would love to have you play along and link up your creations inspired by the sketch below!

As always, you're free to play along with any papercrafting products your heart desires and enter as many creations as you like. This Mojo sketch was inspired by a little year end cleaning session in which I organized some of my scraps. I love this line of paper from Simple Stories and just had to use it to make a card. Lots of my sketches are inspired by just using the scraps I have on my desk, and this sketch is no exception!

This sweet kitty image from the new Lots of Love stamp set from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps totally called my name. I get so much joy from my cat each and every day, so I thought it went perfectly with the you are my happy sentiment on the designer paper.

I stamped the kitty image directly onto patterned paper and then colored with copics, adding the XOXO from the new Love Wordfetti set to the heart. It's a perfect fit!  I did a lot of sponging to give my papers an aged look, and then layered everything onto a card base I had embossed with the 3D lumber embossing folder. A sweet little punched heart and a seam binding bow finish things off.

Do What You Love

Hi friends! I'm popping in with another card using those wonderful Hero Hues Reactive inks and the Knitting set. These sweet playful kitties just make me smile!

I started by smooshing some Berry Smoothie and Grape Slush reactive inks onto watercolor paper and then spattering with water.  I then pulled out the Floral Doily Bold Prints and inked up just the center with the two inks and stamped over the smooshing. I loved the subtle texture this created so much I didn't want to cover it up, so I decided to use vellum for my sentiment to kind of make it look like a ball of yarn.  I used the Infinity Circle Dies to cut the vellum and also a thin circle frame from pitch black cardstock.

The sentiment on the vellum is from Crafty Messages and I embossed it in black.  The kitties from the Knitting set are colored with Copics, with the yarn parts watercolored with berry smoothie reactive ink. I die cut them with the coordinating Knitting Frame Cuts and then popped them up around the circle.  I finished with a thin black mat and a few black Nuvo dots framing the circle.
