Positive Vibes Only

Hi friends! It's hard to believe it's already Thursday. It's basketball season for my boys and we have 3 games a week, so it seems like the weeks are just flying by! Since it's Thursday, that means I'm hopping along with some of my crafty friends over on Instagram for the This or That Hop. This week's theme choice is DOGS or CATS.

It probably comes as no surprise that I'm a cat lover. We have two polar opposite cats and after just shy of 18 months together, they finally occasionally will sit near each other without fighting. They're pretty cute, even when they do fight, though. But my cat lover era started when I was really young when I was first introduced to Hello Kitty. So I thought it only fitting to make a Hello Kitty card for this week's theme challenge.

This sweet little HK VW van image is from the Travel Cutie set from The Sassy Club. I just love it! I colored it up with Copic markers and added some glossy accents to the bumper, lights, and side mirrors, then cut with my Brother Scan 'n Cut.

I started off the background with a mop up of some Lindy's Magicals from a previous crafty session. I then blended on some kitsch flamingo and salvaged patina distress inks.  Next I used the same color of inks in oxide form to splatter and smoosh onto the background.  When this was dry I scraped a bit of opaque texture paste thinly over some of the brighter areas.

The Postcard stencil is one designed by Vicky Papaioannou for Stamperia. I just rediscovered it in my craft room. I think it was from her first line of products for them. I love it and stenciled it with black soot with varying amounts of pressure for a little extra depth and texture.

The good vibes only sentiment is die cut with the Smile More word die set from Erin Lee Creative. I cut it in black and also in pink. I coated the black version with versamark ink and then embossed in clear for a glossy look. A thin black mat finishes off this A2 card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a fabulous day!

Some People

Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday! Last weekend I was chatting a bit with Charmaine and we discovered we both had this Hello Kitty Biz die that we never use because it's ginormous. So in no time (seriously, she's the Speedy Gonzales of stamping, folks!) Charmaine whipped out two darling little cards using it and emailed them to me, {check 'em out here} leaving me thinking I had some big footprints to follow in if I was going to take on the challenge.

So I dusted off Hello Kitty Bigz and some Paper Studio specialty paper that I just kinda LOVE. :) I knew I wanted her popping off the card a bit, so I just grabbed a scrap of Material Girl paper laying on my table for my other panel, used the loop edge punch for a border, then stitched a couple lines down it. Then I picked my sentiment from Feel the Sun and stamped on a Nestabilities ribbon slider tag. I finished off with a cameo rose on HK's bow and some pearls down the side of the punched border.

What's In It?
Stamps: Feel the Sun (Verve)
Paper: Red specialty (The Paper Studio), Material Girl (Cosmo Cricket), Black, White
Ink: Onyx Black (Versafine)
Accessories: Hello Kitty with Bow Bigz Die (Sizzix), Tag (Nestabilities), ribbon, sewing machine, loop edge punch (SU!), pearls (Melissa Frances), Cameo Roses (Prima)

Fabulous Hello Kitty

Happy Friday! I don't know about you, but I'm so glad this week is almost over. It's been a rough one around here, and I'm sooooo ready for a little break. And since he's worked so hard following me around all week, I'd be overjoyed if my migraine would take the weekend off, too! Hear that, migraine??? Scram! LOL

Well, it's time for another Viva la Verve! challenge over on the Verve forum and one of the inspiration photos this week was especially for me! Isn't this Hello Kitty apron from Etsy just adorable? EEEK! I've been resisting the urge to buy one since Amber peeked the photos to the team earlier this week! And look at this one, the lace and vintage pattern of it just make me giddy! Hello Kitty heaven, I tell you! :)

Anyhow, I knew as soon as I saw the inspiration photo, that I needed to pull out the fabulous Hello Kitty Spring Set of embossing folders that Laurie gave me. I had to tweak the sketch a bit to accommodate my HK face, but it was totally worth it! She's embossed on white and cut out with Classic Circle Nestabilities. I inked her whiskers, nose and eyes with a black multiliner pen and then carefully colored her flower with Copics, adding a few polka dots to it with a colorless blender. The flowers on either side are from the Love's Flower set and colored with Copics and accented with liquid pearls and a mixture of glitter and diamond glaze. The black strips are a flocked zebra print that's just fabulous in person, but hard to see in the picture. I embossed both the hot pink paper {I promise it's not as neon as it looks - the colors just wouldn't photograph right!} from BasicGrey and the pink pirouette paper with a Cuttlebug folder, then added some bling and a ribbon up top to finish the card. Finished size is 5.5" square. And I chose the "fabulous just the way you are" sentiment from Love's Flower because it was something I really needed to remind myself of this week.

Hope you all know just how fabulous you are, EXACTLY the way you are today. Have an awesome weekend!
