Grad Card Three Ways

Hi friends! I'm popping in today with a few graduation cards featuring the new Way to Go stamp set from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. One set, three ways.

For this first card, I was scrolling through pinterest and saw a bunch of mushroom images watercolored with all colors of the rainbow.  I decided I wanted to give it a go. I haven't done anything but color with Copics for a while, so it was fun pulling out my Kuretake Real Brush Clean Color markers.

I started by stamping the grad hat from Way to Go in no line fadeout ink, then masking it off and stamping the flowers from the My Savior's Love set.  I then used the markers in a rainbow of colors, blending with a waterbrush to get that rainbow feel.  Once I was done with that, I pulled off the mask and watercolored the hat and tassel.

I chose a gel print clean up page I had in my stash to lay the image down and then embossed the Congratulations sentiment in black below the image.  I chose another background from my stash to mat it, and finished off with a teal card base.

Next up is a mini slimline card.  I stamped the hat from Way to Go, then masked it off and stamped the girl from A Little Snarky.  I colored with copics, then cut out with my Brother Scan 'n Cut. I love that the Way to Go Die Set cuts out most of the sentiments, making it easy to layer the sentiment and diploama below.  A little patterned paper and a few enamel dots and I was done.

The final card combines the Way to Go set with the Decorative Frames set.  I first stamped the frame in red ink, then cut with the coordinating die. Next I stamped the stars from Way to Go in either corner.  The we're so proud of you sentiment is die cut and popped up in the center. I added the diploma image in the corner.  A couple of red designer paper prints finish off the layout.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you have a fabulous start to your week!

Butterfly Future

Hi friends!  I'm popping in today to change up the scenery.  I've had this graduation card sitting on my desk for a few weeks and I finally remembered to take a photo of it.  It's now one step closer to actually getting in the mail!

Anyhow, it's been so long, I don't remember my exact process, but I know I used distress inks on some neutral patterned papers, embossing with a butterfly embossing folder and then splattering watered down gesso all around.  I added the Flourished Trim Die to the bottom of my background, accenting with liquid pearls.   The Eleanor Roosevelt quote from Sparkly Dreams is stamped in archival black, and I added a bit of pumice stone and black soot inks to give it a little depth.  The butterfly stamp was inked up with distress markers and then stamped for a variegated effect. I cut it with the coordinating Butterfly Dreams Die Set and then added some glossy glaze and glitter.

I embellished the bottom of the sentiment panel with two of the leaf images in the Butterfly Dreams Die Set and added an enamel star to the center.  I finished by masking off a stamp so that just the Graduation stamped, then added the 2015 using the Calendar Countdown  set.

Well, that's all for me today.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Shaker Grad Card

Hi friends! It's the first Friday of the month and my turn to host a Viva la Verve sketch.  Last month at this time I was typing up my post at the hospital during Kellan's hospital stay.  This month I'm stealing a few minutes away from him as he's sick again with a 103 degree temp and a bad cough.  It's been a long month,  I tell ya!

Anyhow, I had a bit of fun making a shaker card with the Rounded Scallop Frame Die, the Golden Glam Shaker Mix and the Happy Graduation plain jane.  The background for the card is my favorite part and I was a little sad to cover up so much of it.  Last week during the HSN craft event, I ordered a boxed set of Anna Griffin embossing folders and dies and I am in LOVE!  Seriously, every single one is divine.  This one is called Pomegranate Paisley.  I embossed cream card stock with the folder, then scribbled gelatos in green and turquoise all over it, blended with a baby wipe and then lightly rubbed a black oil pastel over the entire thing.  A bit more blending with the baby wipe and it just popped off the page.

The flowers and leaves are from the Bloom & Grow set, embossed on black paper with gold embossing paper and cut with the coordinating Floral Circles Die Set and Elegant Leaves Die.  I lightly rolled some versamark ink around the edges of the two flowers and added a bit more embossing powder for a gilded edge.

The top piece is black cardstock with the distresssed polka dots from Better Together embossed in gold, and then I took a Flourished Trim Die, dipped it in versamark and embossed with gold to match my card.  A bit of ribbon and some liquid pearls around my shaker and I was done.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you have a fabulous start to your Easter weekend!

May Diva Inspirations Hop

Hi friends!  Welcome to our May Diva Inspirations Hop!  I'm kicking things off today as the Divas show you some cards breathing life into old favorites.  It's a hop... and that means there's a PRIZE!  Leave comments on each of the blogs in today's hop (master hop list at the bottom of this post) and you just might be the lucky winner of a $30 gift certificate to VERVE! I'm thinking that just might come in handy with our new release happening this Friday and all!  {grin}  Check out the Verve Blog today for all the details and prize deadline.

My card today features a little old, a little newer and a sneaky peek!  I got my days mixed up when I was creating and thought the hop was on Monday and the card I had planned to share uses tomorrow's Mojo Monday sketch.  Oops!  So, I just had (twist my arm, right?) to stick mark with twin duty so I could make another card for today's hop.  {grin}

This is a special card for my nephew who is graduating high school this year.  I have no idea how that happened as it seems like only yesterday he was 4 and I was dropping him off at pre-school!  He's such an amazing young man with a heart for God, so I pulled out the Jeremiah 29:11 set along with Calendar Countdown and a brand spanking new Happy Graduation Plain Jane that will release this Friday, May 10.

I used the Jeremiah verse as a background on the grey patterned paper, then cut out a few little bingo cards from the Simple Stories paper that had titles that I thought worked great for graduation.  The new graduation plain jane is stamped onto a Classic Circles Nestabilities die cut and I added a little banner over the top using the numbers in Calendar Countdown for the 2013.  Then I stopped and ate a chocolate covered espresso bean and had a little pity party as I realized I graduated 20 years ago this spring.  {wink}  I finished off by stamping the cross from Jeremiah 29:11 in Cherry Cobbler, then cutting out and tucking behind my circle.  Kind of like a little cross to guide him as he goes, sees, does, discovers and explores.

Embellishments are minimal for this masculine card... just a few wooden stars and a mini library clip.  Oh, and the layout is a somewhat loose interpretation of this week's Viva la Verve May Week 1 Sketch.

Okay, next up on the hop is the always inspiring, newly crowned Stamping Royalty... Amy Kolling.
