Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps + My Sweet Petunia Blog Hop + GIVEAWAY

Hi friends! It's a fabulous day today because Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps is joining forces with My Sweet Petunia for an awesome collaboration blog hop and giveaway! There's a chance to win a $50 gift code to each shop, so we hope you'll join the fun and hop along with us! To be eligible for the drawing, just leave a little comment on each stop along the hop. (Full hop list at the bottom of this post.) Winners will be posted on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog and on the My Sweet Petunia Blog on August 27.

I rarely make a card without using a MISTI. Probably 90% of the time I use the Mini MISTI because it doesn't take up much room and works for almost all my cardmaking needs. Although I have been stamping entire sets at once more often recently, which the Original MISTI is super handy for. Anyhow, with boys in the house my craft supplies often take a beating. And my Mini MISTI finally cracked and came unhinged after a grueling light saber battle dropped it to the floor for what may have been the zillionth time. 😂 So now I am the happy new owner of a shiny new Mini MISTI, just in time for photo ops! Hooray!

For this card, I did a speedy watercolor technique with brush markers using the Mini.  This beautiful bird is from this stamp set, which just happens to be the August Stamp of the Month. That means you can get this set as a free gift with a $75 order in the SNSS shop through August 31.

I stamped the bird image on watercolor paper using waterproof ink, then pulled out my Zig markers and inked up just the flower portion of the stamp with pink and stamped again.

I repeated this process with green for the leaves and brown for the bird, and a tiny bit of orange for the beak, cleaning the stamp off between each color and only coloring in the parts I wanted that color. Then it was just a matter of using a waterbrush to move the color around. I added a few finishing highlights with the markers after the fact, including the wash of blue around the image, but most of the work was just from the stamped ink and waterbrush.

Next I moved on to the sentiment. I pulled out this super fun alpha set. By the way, there's an AWESOME sale on alphabet sets going on right now. Add three alpha sets to your cart and you'll get one for free! I love how easy it was to line up the alpha letters to get a straight sentiment with the MISTI!

I cut this panel with a rounded rectangle die, then mounted on a panel blended with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide and finished off with a white card base.

Okay, thanks so much for stopping by today!

The next stop on the hop is Julie Cassell

What a beautiful card!! I love this SNS bird image! It always make me think of the passages in Matthew where it speaks of God taking care of the birds of the air and how He will take care of us. ✝️
By the way, congrats on the new MISTI. I remember well the light-saber battles in my own house! 😀😀
