Summer Loving Viva la Verve

Hi friends!  It's the first Friday of the month and that means it's my turn to host the sketch at Viva la Verve. This one has lots of layers for lots of possibilities! {grin}

I must confess I've been singing Summer Nights from Grease since I made this card last weekend!  I can't seem to get it out of my head.  I started with the sun from Rise Above, stamping it in daffodil delight on the same color card stock, then cutting out with the coordinating Partly Cloudy Die Set.
Next I embossed the sentiment from Coffee Helps on a stitched circle cut with the Springtime Stitches Die Set and layered them together.

I had a scrap of cardstock I had practiced some watercoloring on and thought it would make the perfect backdrop for my sun.  I also cut the clouds from the same water colored piece.  A couple scraps of dp, some weathered edges and an embossed stitched cloud background finish things off.

Aqua and Coral Mojo

Hi friends! It's Monday again and that means it's time for another Mojo Monday sketch.

My card started with the aqua and coral color trend I've been noticing around stores lately.  On a recent shopping trip, even the grocery store had an aqua and coral bike displayed out front!  So when I sat down to stamp, I picked out these colors, then selected the Rise Above stamp set and coordinating Partly Cloudy Die Set and got to work.

Hello Sunshine Mojo Monday 349

Hi friends!  I'm a little late with my Mojo Monday sample this week, but better late than never, right? We spent the weekend celebrating the boys' birthday with a fun pizza party at our house.  Kellan told me the day before his birthday that he would still want me to hold him when he was four, and five, and maybe six, but after that maybe not.  LOL  Good to be prepared.

Anyhow, on with the card. I got some new Authentique papers I wanted to try out, and I thought the airplane design would pair perfectly with the new Rise Above set.  So I pulled it out and embossed the distressed sun image on so saffron in gold, adding a sentiment to the center.  Next I cut it out with the coordinating  Partly Cloudy Die Set and popped up onto my layered card.

The long you are my sunshine stamp is embossed in gold on vellum then stapled over my designer paper.  A soft sky background embossed with stitched clouds finishes the look off.

Watercolor Field Day 5 New Release Spotlight Hop

Hi friends!  Welcome to the final day of Verve's March Spotlight Hops!  I've had so much fun seeing all the amazing inspirations from the Divas and guests this past week.  All the stamps and dies we've been spotlighting this week are available in the Verve Store right now and on sale 20% off!

Once again, I'm the first stop on the hop, so settle in and hop along with us as we take a closer look at at Rise Above, New Beginnings and the Partly Cloudy and Springtime Stitches die sets.

I had my Gansai Tambi watercolors still on my desk from yesterday's card, so decided to use them again to create a sweet little field of flowers scene.  I did a wash of yellow and green, then stamped the stems from New Beginnings and highlighted and watercolored the leaves with a Zig clean color marker.  The flowers are stamped in black on plaid lawn fawn paper and then cut with the coordinating Springtime Stitches set.  I love how easy it is to pop up that inner layer since the dies are exact cuts.

For the sun, I embossed the distressed sun from Rise Above in white onto vellum, then cut with the coordinating Partly Cloudy Die Set.  I embossed the thinking of you sentiment (also from Rise Above) in the center, then cut the stitched circle from the Springtime Stitches Die Set from the same plaid dp paper and layered it behind the sun.  Finished off with some distressed edges on a soft sky card base.  Easy breezy beautiful.  {grin}
