Foiled Autumn Coffee

Hi friends! I got a chance to do something new to me this weekend. Two years ago I purchased a Minc machine from Amazon and plugged it in and it started smoking and burning up.  It would never get to the ready state, just smoked and smoked. So frightening! So I immediately packed it back up and returned it.  Later that season, one of the local craft stores was having a big sale and I picked up another machine for a steal, thinking at least if I bought it locally, the return process would be a little less painful than taking the package to UPS.  But the holiday season and sicknesses hit and the minc got tucked away in the closet and forgotten. Fast forward to this weekend when I decided for better or for worse, I'd give the thing a test drive.  I really love the look of foil, so was excited to pair it with our Coffee Please digi.

I used one of the sentiments from the printable PDF that was already printed on some pearlized cream cardstock. I ran it through with some orange foil and it worked like a charm! No smoking and success right off the bat! Now I must foil all the things!  :)  I had a hard time catching the foil in my photography, only the close-up above captures a bit of the real shimmery orange-y goodness of it.  Those letters on the left side and the tip of the leaf are orange too, I just couldn't find the right angle to show the glimmer of the whole piece.

The background started with a piece of cream cardstock.  I embossed it with a new embossing folder I picked up at Tuesday Morning. Don't you love those dimpled leaves?  I coated the whole piece with clear gesso, then added some prima and dylusions sprays to get the coloring I wanted.  Next I painted on some gold paint and some copper wax to highlight things.  The leaf on the sentiment is watercolored with the same colors of sprays, then I added a couple fabric leaves that I did the same treatment with.

Finishing embellishments were some brown striped ribbon, a metal leaf embellishment and a chipboard coffee cup sticker from the Amber Moon collection.

Hello Autumn

Hi friends! I've still been suffering through an autumn cold, hoping for a little sleep as I seem to save all my coughing for the wee hours of the night. I did make it into the studio yesterday for a bit and put together this little fall frolic of a card with some fun autumnal things on my desk.

The sentiment and cup are from the Coffee Please Digital Sett and I printed them out on my laser printer and colored with copics. The cup is cut with the Cup for All Seasons Die Set and I cut the sentiment with a pierced square and matted with a big scallop square.  I tucked some cheesecloth and a couple wooden leaves behind, then painted the whip cream with paint and added some glossy accents and glitter to the leaf on the sentiment and the flowers on the cup.  A bit of sponging around the edges and on the cheesecloth with frayed burlap and antique linen distress oxides and I was done.

Autumn Leaves

Hi friends! I'm back again today with another caffeinated creation for the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. For today's card I paired the new Coffee Please Digital Set with this week's Splitcoaststampers sketch challenge.

I started by printing out the sentiment and two of the coffee cups from the Coffee Please Digital Set on my laser printer.  I colored them with copic markers and then used the Cup for All Seasons Die Set to cut the floral cup out and ten I fussy cut the pumpkin cup.

The leaves are Impression Obsession die cuts that I cut from a scrap of polka dot paper, then sponged with ripe persimmon and walnut stain distress inks.  I also used a stabilo brown pencil to accent the veins of the leaves, then painted with a layer of old lace tattered angels glimmer mist for some shimmer. I finished off with morning dew Nuvo drops, a bit of ribbon and some golden pearls.

Mini Espresso Treat Cups

Hi friends! I'm back again today with another creation for the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.  This time I decided to decorate some mini coffee cups with paints and the Coffee Please Digital Set.

During the Labor Day sales I ordered a set of Pebeo Illustrated Faith acrylic paints for $10. I've heard great things about Pebeo and couldn't pass up the price to give them a test drive. I had some mini coffee cups I bought quite a while ago to decorate but still hadn't done anything with them. After making a little template to use to cut paper covers for the cups, I thought it would be so much easier if I could just paint them. And then I thought, why not? So I pulled out some clear gesso and gave each cup a coat to prime it.  Then I just painted on orange and yellow on one cup, patting with a baby wipe here and there to remove paint.  The other one I did with two shades of blue and a bit of white mixed in to lighten it up.

I think these will be perfect for fall teacher gifts. I'm going to have the boys paint some cups and color some leaves, then fill each cup with some fleur de sel candies for their teachers.  I printed the sentiments and the leaf and pumpkin from the Coffee Please Digital Set on my laser printer, then cut with some stitched dies.  The sentiments and pumpkin are colored with copics and I painted the leaf circle with watered down acrylics. The sentiments are added to the cups with mini wooden dowels through the little breathe hole, but toothpicks would work just as well.  Quick, fun and cute! Can't wait to have an art day with the boys. :)  Might be fun to use the bring on the pumpkin spice sentiment and add in some pumpkin spice kisses, too.

More Salted Caramel

Hi friends! I'm back again today with another card for the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.  It's another fall themed card with the new Coffee Please Digital Set.

I started by printing the leaf, cup, sentiment and an enlarged version of the leaf from the Coffee Please Digital Set on my laser printer. I colored these all with copics and then die cut with circle dies and the Happiness in a Cup Die Set.  The stitched rectangle panel is stenciled with sage shadow ink and then I just layered all the papers together.

The other day I pulled out my Nuvo drops and a piece of palette paper and made a bunch of enamel dots.  Love how they turned out and I've had so much more success using them that way. I just add them to the cards with a bit of glossy accents when it's time. Here I used some of the yellow and orange  dots to accent the card.

Rusted Tag

Hi friends! I'm back again today with another card for the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.  I've still been having a blast with the new Coffee Please Digital Set. This time I added in a little mixed-media flair with a tag I distressed.

I found a pack of tags at Tuesday Morning the other day and I just loved the dictionary print to them and had to pick up a pack.  When I got home, I decided to pull out some distress oxides and lindy's sprays and get my fingers inky!

I first coated the tag with a very thin layer of heavy gesso, to prep it for the sprays and inks.  I splattered on some orange and yellow sprays, spritzing with water and letting it run, then heat set.  I then sponged on some distress oxides in yellow, orange and brown and spritzed and dried again.  I kept alternating between sprays and oxides until I achieved the look I wanted, then coated the whole thing with some microglaze so it wouldn't react anymore if I ended up adding more later on. I also cut a tag the same size out of chipboard and glued my rusty tag to it to give it a little more heft.

Next I printed out the salted caramel wishes and the wheat cup from the Coffee Please Digital Set on my laser printer and colored with Copics.  I stamped the wreath from Autumn Blessings in archival coffee ink and then colored with copics and cut with the Autumn Thanks Die Set.  I cut the cup with the Pumpkin Spice Die Set, then layered it all together and accented with Nuvo drops on the wreath and the whipped cream and wheat.

I had an orange polka dot leaf die cut on my desk that didn't make it on another project, so I decided to make it match my project.  I sponged on distress oxides until I got the color I wanted, then blended in some inkagold and copper rust paste to give it a little more dimension and texture. I also added some of both of these to the tag to tie it all together.

The background paper was a scrap from years gone by and I really liked the contrast with the tag, so blended some ink onto the edges, wrapped a bit of lace around the front and then splattered with some watered down coffee archival ink.

Fall Breeze

Hi friends! I'm back again today with another card for the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.  I've been having so much fun with the new Coffee Please Digital Set.

Our weather looks like it may have finally turned to autumn this weekend. We were 95 degrees on Tuesday and only a high of 66 degrees yesterday. The fall breeze and chill in the air makes me happy after a long hot summer. And for the first time in weeks I stepped outside and smelled clean air instead of smoke. Hooray!

Anyhow, on with the card. I printed the sentiment, cup, leaf and an enlarged version of the leaf and colored with Copics.  The cup is cut with the die from the Happiness in a Cup Die Set and I fussy cut the leaves. I layered a few papers from an autumn paper pad I had in my stash, adding a line of piercing down the one border.  My accent was a bit of twine wrapped around the layers and tied with a double bow and finishing off with the small leaf cut out.

Bring On the Pumpkin Spice

Hi friends! I'm back with another card for the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. The hop goes all week long and there are plenty of prizes to be won from over 80 sponsors.  So ink up and link up! {grin}

The new Coffee Please Digi set covers two of my favorite things.. fall and coffee! I seriously haven't had so much fun just coloring and playing with papers in a long time. Here I used four of the images from the Coffee Please Digi and a flipped version of the September Viva la Verve sketch as my inspiration.

The pumpkin cup image fits the Happiness in a Cup Die Set and the pumpkin matches the Pumpkin Spice Die Set, so after coloring with copic markers, cutting them out was a breeze. I used stitched circle and oval dies for the other two images, then layered my papers together, matting with cajun craze cardstock.  I used a little brad from way back when to hang the cup and finished things off with a few nuvo drops.

The Coffee Please Digital Set has been pretty popular so far! Hooray! It's on sale for $3.50 through the end of September and you can download the images immediately in a zip file that includes individual images in both .jpg and .png format as well as a printable pdf that has all the images laid out to print on an 8.5 x 11 sheet.  Our shopping cart is kind of old school, so if you have any problems downloading after you place your order just email and I'll be sure get you the links.
