TCP September New Release Blog Hop

Hi friends! It's release day at The Cat's Pajamas! We're hopping along one last time to celebrate this fabulous new release. Come along for some fresh inspiration with all the new products that are available to purchase NOW in the shop!

If you've been hopping along, you should have arrived from Melissa's blog. If not, head over to Kerry's blog to start from the beginning. I've got a couple of fun cards to share today, so grab a cuppa something awesome and settle in. When you're done here, hop on over to see what Nancy is sharing today. If a link goes amiss along the way, the full hop list can be found on the TCP Blog

My first card for today features the new Snapes Alive set. It also has the distinguished feature of being the first card I've ever made with an owl on it. I dislike owls very much and that might be an understatement! đŸ˜‰ I might also be the only person on the planet that really enjoys fantasy novels that has never read the Harry Potter series. Mark was reading it to the boys over the summer, so I've caught a bit of book 1 and 2. I tried to read them at one point years ago and couldn't get past the owls in book 1! LOL

So at my cat, Moka's, wellness check earlier this month, the vet told me that the number one killer of cats in our area is owls! See, I'm vindicated for my extreme dislike of the creepy things! Apparently parks and rec have been finding dozens of cat collars in owl nests... the only thing that's left after they devour the poor little kitties! Eeep! So needless to say my kitty is staying indoors indefinitely!!!

So that has absolutely nothing to do with the card, other than that I overcame my bias against owls to be true to the story and have an owl delivering a magical envelope to Hairy Potter. The Snapes Alive set is so fun and I'm sure my boys are going to LOVE the cards I make for them with this set!

To start the card, I used the new Twist Stencilz to add gold glitter paste to cherry cobbler cardstock. While that was drying, I got to work coloring the bunny, hat and broom with Copics. There are coordinating dies for this set, but I somehow misplaced them at the time I was stamping, so opted for fussy cutting.  I highlighted the broom with stickles and his nose with crystal gloss.

The sentiment, owl and envelope are embossed in gold on a partial black tag cut with the Wish Tag CutUps.  I accented with some gold ribbon and then layered it all together to finish things off.

My next card features the Grab the Unicorn set. These little unicorns are so cute and I had so much fun playing with them.  I thought the wishing you sunshine and rainbows sentiment would work as a get well sentiment for this sweet little uni who's sick and nursing a bow of chicken soup (or chicken ramen in the case of my boys). I colored the uni's mane in rainbow colors, then fussy cut to pop into a frame I created with the Framed Up 2 die set.  I added a sunshine from the County Fair dies, accented with an enamel dot and a white gel pen. The rainbows along the bottom are cut with the Rolling Hills Die and I added the sentiment as a little banner strip up top and finished off with some heart rhinestones.

Well, that's all for me today! Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you've enjoyed all the peeks and inspiration with this fabulous new release. I've linked my supplies, plus the  entire release below for you, so be sure to check it out.

Next up on the hop is the fabulous Nancy.

Your cards are super cute, Julee! As a Harry Potter fan, I love the first card. However, I'm drawn to the second with its bright rainbows and fun unicorn in the window! Thanks so much for sharing the inspiration!

What!? OWLS?! They must be HUGE. Maybe they just like pretty, shiny things (fingers crossed)

These cards are so different, but both are beautiful. Wonderful rich color. Stunning
