Sweet n Sassy After Party Blog Hop

Hi friends! Today I'm so excited to be kicking off the Sweet 'n Sassy March Release After Party Blog Hop. Hop along with the SNSS cardmaking team as we share inspiration with the March release. This release is filled with all sorts of spring and Easter goodness. It's all beautiful, and if you just have to do a little shopping, a $75 order qualifies you for both FREE US shipping and the March Stamp of the Month, Doodled Florals. All right, now that you know about the deals, let's get hopping.

One more thing... there's a comment PRIZE for a lucky reader, so be sure to give a little shout out in the comments at each stop for a chance to win a gift voucher to the Sweet 'n Sassy store.

For my card, I created a fun background with distress oxide inks and an ink blending tool. I filmed a short video of the process so you can watch this card in the making either below or on my YouTube channel.

I had previously made a very similar card, just playing around, then decided to recreate it and make a video of the technique. My original card turned out a bit softer, and I realized later it was because I swapped Spun Sugar for the Abandoned Coral I used in the video (even though I said it was Spiced Marmalade! 😂). I like both looks, but if you prefer the softer look, Spun Sugar is a good color choice and blends a bit better if you're not into the overlapping polka dotty look. I like it both ways and it's such an easy technique. There's really no wrong way to go! Here's a photo of the softer effect using Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick and Ripe Persimmon.

And here's the Abandoned Coral version. For the technique, I inked up a blending tool with distress oxide, pounced off to soften the color just a bit, then pounced and twisted just a bit to create a dot shape on my cardstock. I then repeated randomly, switching colors and overlapping until the paper was filled with color. I then spritzed with water and blotted with a paper towel. If you want some better blends, you can go back in and blend the dots out, or just leave as is. I think it would also look pretty to add in some white pigment ink dots for more of a bokeh effect.

Once I had the background how I wanted it, I die cut it using a rounded rectangle die, then chose a few words from the All in All set and the is and a the letters in GOOD from the Bitty Minnie Alpha to create the God is good all the time sentiment. I embossed it in white on the panel for a nice crisp look.

Next I moved on to the Genuine Love set. This builder set is so much fun. I marked off the corners of my panel on a larger white die cut rectangle, then used those marks as a guide to stamp the greenery in mowed lawn and twisted citron.  Next I added some dots of distress oxide inks on white cardstock, stamped the rose image inside the dot, then loosely cut around the image.  I curled up the edges of the flowers with my finger for a bit of dimension and then finished with a bit of Nuvo glitter drops for sparkle.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a fabulous time along our hop and get some great ideas for using this fabulous new release! Your next stop is Ceal Pritchett. If a link goes astray, or you just want to read more about all of the sets in this release, or all the details for the hop, head on over to the Sweet 'n Sassy Blog.

Beautiful colors! I love the idea of putting color down and then stamping the roses on top so you don’t have to be so “fussy” about cutting!
