Start the Day Right

Hi friends! It's my day over on the Shimmerz Paints blog today, and I'm sharing this sweet little watercolored card. When I showed this card to Mark he told me it might be my best card ever. Then he jokingly said, "May the photo gods be with you". 😂 And unfortunately that was a hint for Good Ole Murphy to come out to play! Catching the shimmer of a project is always difficult, but my camera seems to have decided to only focus intermittently and I had the hardest time trying to capture this card.

We had a super sunny day the other day, so I decided to try to photograph outside in natural light to see if my camera would behave better. But all I ended up with was a bottle of spilled Crimson Tide Shimmerz when the wind blew my backdrop over! 😪 Sniff sniff. Anyhow, these photos really don't do the card justice. It's got shimmer for days and a lot more crispness than the photos show, but you win some you lose some.

On release day for Hero Arts, I saw this beautiful large Bicycle with Basket Fancy Die on their website and I was wondering why I didn't have it. Then I remembered seeing it when I unpacked my DT box (there's seriously so much wonderful goodness in that box each month, it's easy to lose track). I frantically went on the hunt for it and this weekend it finally appeared hiding in the envelope for the waffle set. Who knows what I was thinking when I placed it there!  😆 I couldn't wait to test it out, so decided to do a bit of watercolor painting with Shimmerz paints.

I painted the bike body with Crimson Tide Shimmerz and Sweet Heart Vibez. The seat, kickstand, pedal and tires are done with Silver Bells and Coal Shimmerz, and I finished the basket off with So Sappy and Coffee Shimmerz.  I thought the bike could use some flowers to spruce it up, so pulled out the Lovely Balloons Stampz and stamped the two floral sprays and another basket.  Then I painted these images with the same colors as above, adding in Celery and Evergreen Shimmerz for the greenery.

For the background, I wanted a neutral color, so chose a brick layering stencil to sponge on some Silver Bells.  I then went back in with a mix of silver bells and coal to add in some accents on some of the bricks.  It's so very shimmery.  My sentiment choice is from the Fresh Start Stampz set and I thought it fit perfectly for a a January new beginnings kind of card.  I sponged around the edges of the brick panel with black  soot distress ink and then added a bit more at the bottom to give the bike a place to rest.

Oh Julee this is beautiful, even if I can't see the full shimmer and sheen on the card - your colours are amazing and the composition on perfect
