Quick and Easy Thank You Cards

Hi friends! How is 2019 treating you so far.? My boys are all still home through next Monday, so it doesn't quite feel like my fresh new start is here quite yet. Still squeezing all the goodness out of this holiday break we can.  Today is scheduled for a much anticipated adventure to Chuck E. Cheese's.  So thankful for free WIFI and wireless noise canceling headphones! 😂

I have loved reading all your fun comments and entertainment recommendations on my Seasons Givings Blog Hop post. If you haven't yet, be sure to leave a comment over there for a chance to win a box filled with papercrafting goodies!

Today I'm sharing some fun quick and easy thank you cards I cooked up in honor of one of my crafty resolutions this year. This year I'm trying to make a conscious effort to create more "mailable" cards. Y'all know I love all the layers and embellishments, but I don't love the $3.50 postage the post office charges, so my cards aren't getting sent out as often as they should.

Lately, Trevor has been working on a series of watercolors he calls "trashcan paintings". He loves it so much it made it onto his things he was thankful for list in 2018! He's been having a blast making a rough sketch of our kitchen trashcan and then watercoloring it all the colors of the rainbow! He struggles greatly with motor control so it always makes my heart so happy to see him blocking out colors as well as he does. I'm pretty sure if I tried all these colors together I would totally make mud.  😂 He has a lot of patience when it comes to art and he is so precious when he paints, often narrating just like he's a crafty YouTuber.

During one of his sessions I did a little Crayola watercoloring alongside him and then showed him the magic of adding a bit of table salt to the wet paint to get some fun effects. I really wasn't thinking about cardmaking at the time, but I loved how vibrant the colors came out, so was inspired to use my little project to make some quick mailable thank yous! Here's what I started with...

I had only painted about a 3.75 x 7.25" swath of watercolor on my sheet, so decided to go for square cards to get the most out of my strip of watercolor. I cut the watercolor sheet down to 1.5" x 3.5", so I could make four cards. I glued these strips to 4 inch square cardstock panels, then pulled out the fabulous All About You set from Sweet 'n Sassy and stamped the thank and the you using my MISTI to get the same placement on all of them.

Next I pulled out Winnie's Warm Wishes. (This set is currently a steal of a deal in the $5 blowout section of the shop.)  I used the sweet little mug of cocoa and marshmallows, stamping it in black and then coloring with Copic markers and adding some crystal lacquer to the hearts and marshmallows. I then fussy cut and popped up on a little foam tape.  I added a bit of washi for a little interest, then finished with black mats and 4.25" square card bases.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you're inspired to make a few quick cards. Sweet 'n Sassy has a fabulous new release in their shop this week. Hop on over and take a peek, you'll be seeing some samples from me soon! Sets are available as a bundle or individually. Plus there's a darling incentive set for orders over $75.

So pretty. Love the painting and salt tech. I've done this. I also love the cellophane scrunched on wet water coloring. letting it dry and removing the wrap... I love your card.
