Watercolor Pine Cones

Hi friends!  It's Monday already and time for a brand new Mojo Monday sketch.  I've been a bit under the weather the past few days and have pretty much lost my voice and can't stop coughing. Thankfully, Mark's parents took the boys for a sleepover on Saturday night, so Mark and I could rest up a little over the weekend. I got a chance to stamp and even make a short little rambling video!

I finally installed the upgrade to Windows 10 on my laptop and am happy to say that my iPhone now speaks the same language as my computer.  Finally!  So you might be seeing a few short little practice videos here and there from me as I get more comfortable being on video.  You have to start somewhere, right?  Let me know if there's anything in particular you'd like to see from me.

In the video below, (click here to view directly on my YouTube channel)  I show the watercolor stamping technique I did for the pine branch image on this card using the Pinecone Christmas set.  I loved how it turned out and it was so easy (especially with the MISTI alignment tool).  I've often seen watercolor stamping where you mist the stamp, but that always was a bit messy and too diluted for me. I decided to try stamping the image in color, then using a water brush on the stamp and stamping again.  This keeps a bit more definition to the image and the water moves in just the right places. Easy, breezy, beautiful!  ;)

The poinsettia is embossed in gold and water colored with clean color real brush markers and accented with glossy glaze and glitter.  I found this lovely scrap of Authentique paper for the background that had a hint of green.  The banners up top are patterned paper that I crimped, then sanded so some whit would show through.  I also painted a bit of inkagold on the edges and around the base of the card.

beautiful card Julee, nice video too!
Glad you're better connected with the Win 10 and cell phone.. Yay!!
One thing you do exceptionally well is distress coloring with multiple colors.. I would love to see you do that via a video..I try to emulate your technique, but you really have it down, and I LOVE your work!!!

First of all, I love your pinecone stamp! Watercolored or not, it is awesome. This card is beautiful. I love holiday cards that aren't necessarily traditional. My fave technique on this card are your sanded crimped banners!
