Sailing - AVS Hops Day 7

Hi friends!  Happy Wednesday.  It's Day 7 of our Anni-VERVE-sary Spotlight Hops and we're on the verge of some new VERVE!  (Yes, Marisa, that's a nod toward your Kindle Fire auto-correct that keeps replacing Verve with verge!)  {grin}  There's a lot of delicious eye candy to see today as the Divas showcase more scrumptious new stamps and dies.  Are you ready?  Let's go to the HOP!!!

Did I mention we're giving away a prize?  Leave a little comment love on each of today's hop posts (see full list below) and you just might be the lucky winner of: Learning to Sail and the Flourished Trim Die!  Head on over to the Verve Blog for all the details and a little back story on today's featured products.

Well, I think I finally ended up with a CAS card, or as close as I'm going to get!  {grin}  I've been trying all week, but kept getting distracted by all the toys in my studio that I haven't had a chance to play with for so long.  I knew I wanted to use the cloud technique I used in my Day 1 card with the sailboat image from Learning to Sail, so that's where I started.  The boat is stamped onto a Classic Square Nestabilities die cut, with the bottom of the water lined up with the embossed edge of the square.  I then masked off the edges from the embossed square outward and used a Scalloped Flower die cut to sponge Soft Sky ink directly onto the image.  I wanted to get lots of clouds and some darker areas of ink so that it really looked like a storm could be coming.  After that, I pulled the masking tape off, outlined the border of the embossed square then paper pieced and colored the sailboat image.

The waves are colored with a Tumbled Glass Distress marker and a waterbrush, then I filled them in with Frosted Lace stickles and a pinch of polar white flowersoft.  The waves on the base of the card are made by using half of the negative left over from cutting the  Flourished Trim Die.  I used it as a mask and inked up just the bottom section of my card.  The title sentiment from Learning to Sail is stamped directly on the card base and I paper pieced the banner portion to match the sails on the boat.  I finished off with a scallop rectangle mat for the image and a fun twirly ribbon treatment in the corner.

I'm getting so EXCITED for Friday!  We'll be revealing all the sets in their full glory at our Release Party this Friday night from 9-11PM Eastern.  Are YOU going to be there?  You've still got a few days to hop and participate in our Anni-VERVE-sary festivities in the hopes of winning some of these new sets and dies we've been sneaking!  A recap of all the ways to win is in the first post on our Release Party Thread.

Okay, time to move along... I can't wait to see what the rest of the Divas came up with, so I'm going to grab a mocha and hop on down the list!  Want to join me?  Next up is the always inspiring, Laurie!

Bless Marisa and her Kindle - my iPhone does that to me ALL THE TIME! Most irritating!

This card is so sweet! I love the clouds and that ribbon is fab. However, the image and then sentiment totally steal the show! I love that the sentiment has the little scroll in that co-ordinates with the scroll stamp and die - genius! :)

I am really looking forward to Friday/Saturday to see all the new Verve, however, I will be sad as there won't be any more blog hops - so torn!
