Fabulous Wanderlust

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday! I hope your week is going great so far. I've been busily packing orders, but thought I'd pop in to share another card I made for our recent release. This card uses the Love's Flower set and I paired it with digi papers from the Wanderlust Paper Pack by Quirky Twerp.

{Personal side note: At the beginning of this year, I made the very hard decision to step down from all my non-Verve design work. I adore The Cat's Pajamas, the digichick and Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs and will continue to use their products (and you should try them if you haven't ... the women behind these fabulous businesses are top-notch people with integrity and heart), but I was finding the need to simplify my "have-to's" so I could make time for more "get-to" stamping. You know what I mean?}

Anyhow, as soon as I saw the color palette in these digi papers, I just had to purchase and download them to paper piece the large flower in the new Love's Flower set. It's also a fabulous palette for shabby chic creations, a style I totally admire and hope to get a little better at! Practice makes perfect, right? :)

Okay, on with the card. I stamped the flower four times. Once on white cardstock, twice on the coral colored paper and once on the green paper. Then I just cut out, sponged the outer edges with old olive and cameo coral ink (this gives a lot of dimension without a lot of effort), then layered on the white cardstock image with dimensionals. I finished off the focal piece with a button center tied with linen thread.

The rest of the layers are all cut from the digi papers and I used the Floral Lace Martha Stewart punch. This is the third card I used it on, and it now will not work. I've tried all the little waxed paper and aluminum foil tricks. It's not stuck, it just won't press down to punch the cardstock. GRRRR! The MS punches have the cutest designs but are made with such poor workmanship. This is the fourth punch I've had this happen on. I've been repurchasing the punches because I love the designs, but no more! Hear that, Martha? LOL

Anyhow, for embellishment I added a little vintage lace trim, along with some pearls from Michael's. Then I finished off with a button tag embellishment, stamped with the fabulous {just the way you are} sentiment from Love's Flower.

Okay, back to the grind. Have a fantastic day!

  1. Love the card!

As to the punches, take them back to the store where you purchased them. I got an EK success border punch at Michael's and when I opened it (brand spanking new), there was red felt lodged in the thing! It was weird. Anyway, I just went back in with my receipt and they allowed me to just pick up a new one of the same design. It's worth a try at least!

  2. Lovely card, Julee. Great colours and the lace is lovely. That flower is fabulous - can you make some more flower sets for the next release - hint, hint :D As for the punch, some people say try putting it into the freezer for a bit. If not, return it as Stacy said. They are hit and miss sometimes with her punches.

  3. OOH, this is so pretty! Love's Flower is definitely on my wish list! I'm sorry about your punch. I've actually had a lot of success with the MS punches, but it's the Fiskars and EK Success punches I've had problems with! I'll have to try the Freezer thing!

  4. Julee, this looks awesome. I love the whole look! Oh, I know what you mean about the Martha Stewart Punch, that has happened to me before and it gets kinda frustrating! Your card still turned out great though! Such a beautiful card.

  5. It's SO frustrating when a punch won't work! This is beautiful though - I think that might be my favourite Julee designed flower!

  6. This is absolutely stunning!! This is hands down my favorite stamp from the release. :) As far as punches I too agree to take it back. I've had a love/hate relationship with some of my punches so I totally feel ya.

  7. This is a darling card. I love the colors and your display is beautiful.
Glad to hear it's not only me with problem punches..
Thanks for sharing Have a great week.

  8. Love the colors. Can't wait to get my shipment so I can play with this wonderful stamp.

  9. OMG, that flower is amazing!!! Fabulous card, love what you've done with the border punch too.

  10. It's a gorgeous shabby chic card!! I have not had a prob with the MS punches but, had a couple Fiskars that I "threw" (hehehe) in the trash one night!! Very frustrating!! Know my Loves Flower is in the mail, can't wait!!

  11. OH MY GOODNESS, this is breath-taking, Julee!

  12. I just had a problem with one of MS punches and just sick about it because I do not have my receipt. Love the punch but not going to buy another!

  13. Ok, this is one of those cards that make you go 'gasp' and then a few choice four letter words because I have never made anything this great!!! Hot card girl!

Thanks so much for taking the time to brighten my day with a comment! I love hearing from you.
