Blog Candy Bonanza

Hi everyone! Well, in 23 days I'll be celebrating my 2 year Blog-a-versary! And since I'll be right in the midst of another Verve release right about then, I decided to start the celebration a little early! Thanks to all of you who've been reading these past 2 years. Your comments and support are a daily inspiration to me. Thanks for taking the time to stop by my corner of the world each day. :)

What kind of a celebration would it be without a prize? Well, I've gathered a few of my favorite things, including a donation from my favorite stamp company owner, Alma of The Cat's Pajamas, to offer up as blog candy. Sorry about the poor photo - I hit the limits of how much stuff I could cram into my little photo box. :)

Here's the Loot...
Stamp Sets:
Elegant Christmas
Aargh! Piratey
Loving Mew
Thankful Blossoms
Seeing Stars
Wonderful Wishes
Snowflake Splendor
Cupcake Affair

Other Goodies:
Pearlescent Watercolors
American Crafts Swiss Dot Ribbon
Stardust Stickles
Pearlized White Cardstock
Cut N Dry foam (my favorite custom sponges for adding ink to my projects)
Assortment of 6 x 6 papers
Assortment of Vanilla Hodgepodge
2 Copic Sketch markers (BG09 and B93)
And who knows what other handmade goodies might just hop in the box?

So how do you win all this loot?
Just leave me a comment on this post telling me a few of your favorite things in 2008. They can be items, events, things that happened to you, accomplishments, etc. Just something that makes you smile when you think back about the past year. Leave your comment before midnight on Wednesday, December 17 and you'll be in the drawing for this bountiful blog booty! I'll announce the winner on Thursday, December 18.

Here's mine... In 2008 I fell in love with Copics, Nestabilites, and the Twilight series! My favorite day was sitting FRONT and CENTER at an Alanis Morissette concert. My favorite accomplishment was designing Beautiful You, a tribute to my amazing design team.

So how about you?

Comments are now closed. Thanks to everyone for celebrating with me!

Wow what did I like the best of 2008? I learned to except life for what it is and that no matter how much I wish it were different or what it would be like if my husband had not had a stroke, it doesn't change the way it is. Stamping helps me to de-stress and let's my mind go to somewhere other than the everyday circumstances. In regards to stamping I love my nesties and used them quite a bit this year. Thanks for sharing such great blog candy!

Ooooh! Congratulations on your 2nd Blogaversary!

New loves for 2008? To keep it short, I'll limit this to papercrafting loves, in no specific order. My Spellbinders Wizard & Nestabilities, Copic Markers, Ranger & Tim Holtz products, and the delicious new scrapping papers available to us!

Happy Holidays!

Two of my favorite things that I discovered in 2008 are the Nestabilities and Cuttlebug. I just love what I can create with these wonderful tools. One of the most rewarding times for me this year is when I helped my dear friend, Kay put together gift bags for her first annual Sistah 2 Sistah program. This was a gathering for women to come together and celebrate each other and I am glad she gave me the opportunity to help with it.

Congratulations on your 2nd year blog anniversary. A few of my favorite things are: baking Christmas cookies with my 30 year old daughter, which is a tradition we started when she was very small, sitting in my big chair with all three of my dogs on my lap cuddling, my husband who is very supportive and looks after all kinds or housework stuff when I am working, as far as crafting goes I am absolutely in love with the Magnoia images and copic markers.

I fell in love with colouring again this year after Colleen's MCC class. My other special moment was seeing my niece in a show on a London stage a few weeks ago.

I'm currently working in a "STRATEGIES" classroom with 8 preschool boys with different levels of Autism. Doing this makes me appreciate my children and the fact that they are both happy and healthy. It makes me really happy when we reach a milestone with one of the boys. I'm loving Nestabilities and my Big Shot this year. Congrats on your two years...I've really enjoyed your blog. Thanks for the chance to win some "candy". Cheryl L.

My best 2008's moments were with my children, growing up so fast. My husband offered me many surprises. One of them was going to Disneyland Paris at Disneyland Hotel (bigger one): a dream come true!Last but not least, I've discovered scrap'friends this year.

This is the year I became obsessed with making cards. I started collecting copic markers and nestabilities. I discovered verve and unity stamps. And I, also, fell under the spell of Twilight. I'm so grateful for each and every day my husband and I are still together after his sudden cardiac death and I'm thankful for my job. My great discoveries in 2008 that I'm thrilled about are the wonderful designers' blogs and tutorials that have led me to new techniques and PURCHASES !! I love my new Wizard, Spellbinders Nestabilities and Verve stamp sets and can't wait to add more and more to my stamping stash. Just call me addicted....a stamper for LIFE !!

Anonymous said...

congrats Julee on a wonderful milestone. For me my fav things are my cuttlebug and nesties. I don't think I do a card or scrapbook page without them. I just received my first set of copic's a week ago and all I can say is wow. I have never stamped so many images just so I can colour.

The one thing that makes me smile the most is watching my 12 niece now make her own cards and albums. For her birthday and christmas I give her a limit to spend and sit her infront of the computer and let her go. I think she is becoming just as addicted to this as I am. It's not so much the joy in making but the joy in giving something handmade to someone you love.

The greatest thing that happened this year is that my daughter moved closer to us. Love to spend time with her and family. This year I got a nice supply of Copic markers that I love and also added many nestabilities and JustRite products. Congratulations on your 2 year anniversary.

My favorite new technique I learned this year, was Gamsol Magic. I also finally got my very own Cuttlebug!! I've had a very rough year with 2 deaths in the family, a sick husband (3 times) & both vehicles broke down. I'm very grateful for having my family, health & a good job. Even with all that's happened, I still look at the bright side of things. Congrats on your 2 years! Thanks!

Congrats on 2 years. I have to say I haven't tried the copics yet..very difficult to find in my area but I do love my cuttlebug. Easy and fun with great results.
I love all the inspiration at SCS just wish I had more time to stamp.
Thanks for a chance to win some great prizes.

Wow, 2 year blogaversary! Way cool! Your Verve stamps are way cool as well; I'm getting a nice collection of them! 2008 was a good year for our family, but the best thing would be the success of my Dad's surgery. He has had 2 different types of cancer in 2 years; both of which look to be "cured" at this point. This last bout was a very rare form; the specialist had only seen 2 cases in 30 years! So, I am thankful to have my Dad healthy! Blessings to you!

This year has been big! In the paper crafting world, I discovered copics, nestabilities, the CRICUT, and started a blog. I discoverd all these great stamp companies (Verve, PTI, Bellas, and MFT).

Personally, I left one job working FOR someone, and started my OWN practice! I love what I get to do and now get to do it the my way.

Wow! This is a bonanza! Thanks, Julee! This year I fell in love with the Nestabilites! Can you have too many of those? Now it's JustRite stamps or copics, hmmm...
In the circle of life, we have enjoyed watching our boys mature and grow this year. It's been rewarding to see them emerge as kind, respectful, and even witty young men! There's nothing better!
Congratulations on your milestone and Merry Christmas!

Happy Anniversary! In 2008 I fell in love with blogs (everyone elses since I don't have one of my own). My favorite thing for 2008 has to be all of the inspiration I found when I discovered all of the wonderful blogs, like yours. You have really fueled my creativity.2008 has also been a good year for my children and that is always the most important!

...Congrats Julee, on two years blogging.

Boy, you're not kidding it is a "Blog Candy Bonanza"

My most fav thing of 2008 was celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary and being surrounded by our kids and grandkids.

My second highlight of 2008 was having two cards published in a magazine.

My third highlight is crafting cards with the grandkids and they sell them at church for a church project - they have done so well.

There are many more, but I must say, I have enjoyed so much, meeting some lovely friends on blogging and joining in a few Challenges.

My favorite day this past year was meeting my friend Heidi. She's such a huge part of my life now that I wonder how I lived so long without her!
Secondly, this year was special because I began posting cards and participating in challenges. It's helped me to grow and learn so much in such a short time.
I haven't tried Copics yet, but I'm hopeful 2009 might just be the year I give them a try!
Congratulations on your fabulous blog, and thanks always for such wonderful inspiration! May your holidays be merry :)

2008's favorite memory was spending a week with my whole family on the lake. My mom was quite sick this year, so getting my siblings and our kids together doesn't happen much in the summer. I will treasure those days for quite awhile.
Thank you for the chance to win such a great blog candy:)

Thanks for a great site as well as incredible candy!

Wow, I started 2008 on a cruise with my family, celebrating my son's high school graduation. That was most definitely a highlight as it was such a fun time! It's been a great year of watching my kids blossom! My daughter spent the summer in NYC doing her college internship and is one semester from graduation! My son started college and is playing college baseball! My husband's business has been less than great but it has been so sweet seeing the family pull together to help out. This year has had it's share of ups and downs, but I love being reminded how blessed I truly am!
Another favorite is discovering blogs. I have one - with only 3 entries (haha), but I'm addicted to looking at and reading other people's blogs and seeing their creativity. I've been stamping for about 10 years, but have not been so into it for the last 5. Discovering blogs has helped get me back in the swing! That's a favorite, too! :)

This is the year that my cards took on a whole new dimension thanks to the techniques I've learned using nestabilities, copics, dew drops and glimmerz. I found wonderful blog sites by very talented women like you and the Split coast stampers dirty dozen and alumni. I love Verve stamps and hope Santa got the link I sent to fill my stocking! But most importantly, this is the year that my brother and nephew made it safely home from Iraq. I am blessed with a wonderful husband, family and friends.

I'm happy and grateful for my family and I've taken such joy in watching my daughter learn to read this year. I've also learned to knit, which makes me feel close to my grandmothers since I inherited their needles. I also fell in love with Copics this year and have been trying to make sure I take a little "craft" time every week just to play. All in all, it has been a very good year!

Congratulations. Thanks for the chance at such great blog candy. I will always remember this year as our first summer in our new house. We purchased a new house which sits on almost 3 acres which was NOT landscaped. So my husband and I have moved dirt, planted trees, flower beds and have spent tons of time and effort trying to get our yard to look great. We are hoping that the next few years our yard will require less time and money. (Because the yard business has definately affected my stamp buying. LOL)

Happy 2 years. The best thing about 2008 is that I survived another year of chemo treatments. The best times have been the ones I've spent with family and friends. I especially love watching my niece grow up.

I just discovered the world of blogging, which has caused my creative juices to start flowing again. I have actually overwhelmed myself with lists of gifts I want to make. I just received my first set of copics and can't wait to start experimenting.

OMG!!! 2008, I have to say has been the rebirth of crafts for me. I have discovered the beautiful world of papercrafting... I am no longer confined to a 12x12 sheet of paper in the land of scrapbooking, I have wondered into new territory, ventured into new countries where there are copics, stamps, nestabilities, felt, pearl ex and border punches!!!!. I have also been introduced to the blogging world. Wow, how intriguing has this been for me. I can actually peek into the many lives of others. People who craft, people who have special needs children like myself and people who help me realize I am not alone in anything that I do. I have been shown that God will test me until I learn to compromise. I have seen that Change is possible, and Change is good. I was told in the beginning of 2008 that the 8 represents changes and new beginnings. Well I am a true believer because I see it and am grateful for all that has happened.....the good and bad!

Anonymous said...

Wow, congrats on the 2-year milestone :) Some of my favorite things have been actually USING some of my craft supplies ... like my Cuttlebug! Got a few nestabilities to try out, and tried your stamps for the first time (LOVE them!!). Can't wait to see what 2009 will bring.

Wow! Awesome blog candy, and for such a good reason!
We've got to do so many fun things as a family this year! Definitly those fall under my favorite things about 08. I started blogging in January and that's been too much fun and (like so many others) has taught me a LOT! Some crummy things have happened but for the most part this has been a good year.

On the stamping side, I fell completely in love with the Magnolia Tilda's and MFT stamps this year, and discovered my love of the mini book and SCS. On a non-stamping note, early 2008 I hit my weight loss goal of 45 pounds (over a year) and have been maintaining (+ or - 5) for most of the year.

Thanks for offering this incredible chance to enable me more for more stamping!

What I love about this year....Watching my kids grow more into their future selves. I have been reminded how they are not my own; I am raising them for God, to serve Him. They are both becoming such amazing individuals. Creative, caring, hard working. I am amazed to see some of these traits coming out at ages 6 and 8. The other thing I love about this year....my growth. Allowing myself to rekindle a long snuffed passion. I tried. I did it! I am proud of me, which is a leap in itself. God has been gently reminding me; I am still useful. I am after all, still His.

BTW- your Mojo Mondays have been a wonderful creative inspiration to me. Thank you. Keep it up!

The biggest thing that happened to me in 2008 was having my daughter. I love to watch her grow and interact with her brother. Scrappy wise I fell in love with Spellbinders Nesties!

In 2008 I lost 30lbs,have kept it off and I am still going. I got a cuttlebug and lots of Nestabilities and love using them! I have really branched out with my card making and have bought lots of embelishments, they just make the card even better! I hope to grow even more in 2009 and be the best me that I can be! Thanks Julie for designing such wonderful stamps for all of us to use!

Congratulations on yout two year blog anniversary. I love reading it. I too discovered copics and nesties this year. I finally made my christmas cards this year which was quite an accomplishment. I fell in love this year year with my new grandson born in April. but just as precious as the other four.

I'm brand new to this card making, and so it's one of the things that I have loved about this past year. Also I picked up a book called "Life is a Verb" and did one of the authors suggested "37 days" activites that was so much fun. My family and I had birthday candle celebration every night for this time period. I bought boxes of birthday candles, and we chose something new every night to celebrate. Some of the things that we chose were, real mash potatoes, chocolate cupcakes, and good friends. I've just finished doing "37 days" of art, cards of course, and yes my cards are improving!

In 2008, I became obsessed with stamping and card-making and it's been a great part of my life! I've made so many new friends in this arena. Love the new toys, too - got my first Nesties and my first Copics are on the way! On a personal note, my DH (and best friend) and I celebrated our 20th anniversary this summer. Very special! Even though some bad things happened this year, I know I have so much to be grateful for!
Thanks for the chance to win the awesome blog candy and congrats again!

Whew Julee! That's a tough request. Our family has had a rough year. I think I missed my whole summer and Fall. I am most thankful that the Lord has brought me through that valley and didn't leave me hanging. Being able to just "stand" without being knocked over is a very good thing to be greatful for.
Julee, I hope you and your family have a wonderful God blessed Christmas & New Year. Thanks for inspiring me and bringing bright moments to my days!

This year I fell in love with trying to simplify the clutter in my life. I tried to limit my blog surfing time to 30 minutes each day. Some days it worked. My favorite day was anything this summer watching my son's vocabulary totally increase (he's three), and seeing him play sports -- the kid can really hit a baseball! I am looking forward to a healthier 2009, and a little luck as well.

It's been a fabulous year!

WOW, Julee - What an amazing accomplishment! I lovev coming by your little corner of the web every day to see what you've created for us to drool over. :o)

What have been my favorite things in 2008?? Well, I'd have to say I have really started stepping out of my box thanks to blogs like yours. It is so inspiring to see such wonderfully creative people from around the world. I've also discovered the wonder of acrylic stamps - I used to be a SU! rubber snob (not that I don't still LOVE SU! stamps) but I have slowly come around to the "other medium." Like you, I discovered the Twilight series and DEVOURED them in a week! In fact, I loved them so much, I even bought them after I'd read them all.
I am so looking forward to 2009 and the creative challenges it will bring. Thanks again for being an inspiration to us all!

This has been a wonderful year for me. In June I received my acceptance letter for nursing school, and just last week I finished my first quarter, and achieved straight A's for the first time in my academic career. My daughter is going to be a starting varsity softball pitcher for our high school team. My sons are both healthy and doing great in school. And my husband is one of the only building contractors in the area that is still busy with work. I have had a wonderful 2008, and and grateful for all my blessings. 2009 holds more great things for me and my family.

I would have to say this has been a year of major changes for me....some of my favorite things of the year would have to be...Spending more time at the lake, finding a scrapbooking group in the town we moved to, my embossing gun, and my fresh zap of creativity!!!

This year my older son did really well in his GCSEs, his younger brother was best in school in their maths tests. My stamping really took off as a hobby/obsession, I've begun my blog and my new "must have" toy is Glimmer Mists.
Could I also say, what ASTOUNDING blog candy!

Hi, Love your blog and your beautiful cards. Some of my favorite things this year have been traveling to see family, going to the beach for the first time in about 15 years (I'm more of a mountain person but I really enjoyed the beach). My beautiful niece and handsome goofy nephew are always on my list of favorite things. Merry Christmas

My biggest discovery was my crops! I started hosting crops at a local town hall in June. It was completely filled the first time with 20 girls! My second one was about 15 and my 3rd one in November was 6 but it was the most fun! I never laughed so hard in my life and realized how much I really liked getting together with the girls, scrapping and just having fun! I usually had just scrapbooked on my own before that but now I look forward to my own crops!

A wonderful family and fabulous friends round out my list!

Julee, first of all, thank you for your blog!
The past year was trying in that I helped my 86 year old mother care for my 90 year old father who use to be such a sweet, tender, loving Baptist minister/counselor. After a stroke his entire personality changed. Every evening, I would have to go over there and settle a silly squabble between he and my mother, then practically wrestle him to get his adult diapers. Much to his objection, we had to put him in a nursing care facility. However, God worked it all out. Now, we're able to see he suffers from Alzheimer's. My evening visits with him are no longer to wrestle and argue, but to read to him and these visits are SO sweet. He has returned to his loving, gentle self. I'm so thankful I've been given a chance to have THESE special memories with him.
