Day 4 AnniVERVEsary Spotlight Hops

Hi friends! We're back with Day 4 of our 10th Anni-VERVE-sary release! What a wonderful few days of hopping we've had so far, and we have another new set to showcase today!

I'm the first stop on today's blog hop so settle in and let's get HOPPING! Verve is releasing 4 new sets and 2 die sets tomorrow...Monday, August 28. The Divas and our very special Guest Diva, Kelly Lunceford, are joined by former Diva Tiffany Solorio.  I've been a fan of Tiffany's since the first card I ever saw from her. I was so honored to have her as a Diva and find myself blessed pretty much daily by her inspiring videos and encouraging words. I'm thrilled to be hopping alongside her once again!

Today's feature is on the Scripture Medley 5 stamp set. I had no idea way back when I designed our very first scripture plain jane how popular these scripture verse stamps would be. I'm so blessed to live in a place where I can freely use my talents to shine a light on God's love and inspired words. Words of healing, of comfort and most importantly of LOVE. In a world that's quick to judge, in a nation that's in turmoil, these scriptures have been ones on my heart and mind this past year. Among these stamps, I hope you find a little peace, comfort and love that you can share with others.

I went with a super simple approach to my card. I loved this paper from a pad I recently picked up at Tuesday Morning and wanted to let as much of it show as possible. It seemed fitting for either a card of encouragement or sympathy, so I chose the Micah 5:5 verse to pair with it.

I die cut the rectangle, then did a background by plopping on some Daniel Smith watercolors, I used yellows and a bit of iridescent gold and it's so shimmery in real life!  I flicked on some white india ink splatters and then when that was dry, I embossed the verse from Scripture Medley 5 in white.  I finished off with a satin bow.

I've got another fun card with this set over on the Verve blog today, so don't forget to hop on over there for a little more inspiration!  If you already know you want the whole release, be sure to get in on the 30% off Buy It All Bundle pre-order. The pre-order price ends tonight (8/27).

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Happy hopping!

Next up on the hop is Maureen.

Grace Card Concept 62

Hi friends! It's time for a new challenge over at The Card Concept. The new inspiration graphic had me thinking about plaid, flowers, autumn colors, and table settings.

I started with some color burst powders on watercolor paper in oranges and yellows, then when it was dry, I stamped over it with the wreath and the large flower from Autumn Blessings in tangerine tango. I then added some coloring in with Copic markers and cut out with the coordinating dies from the Autumn Thanks Die Set.

Next I started working with some rust paste, stenciling onto a tag.  I ended up liking the piece that I used to scrape up the excess rust paste with more than the tag, so scrapped the tag idea and cut the watercolor paper down to square size, embossing the grace quote from the  Scripture Medley 4 stamp set in early espresso.

I added a bit of color here and there to this piece as I worked, swiping it with a baby wipe I used to clean up the yellow dylusions spray and paint I used on the bottom layer, then finishing off this piece with some drops of straight dylusions spray in pure sunshine.

The bottom layer is Authentique paper.  I loved the plaid pattern, so added a strip of it to a reddish orange piece, taping down some washi tape randomly, then adding paint, dylusions and distress ink to blend everything together.  The entire layer is dry embossed with a darice  embossing folder, then sanded and distressed.

For embellishment I added some teeny red rhinestones to the wreath, an orange bauble to the flower center and a fun wooden leaf from Michael's behind the flower.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! If you get a chance, hop on over to The Card Concept blog to see what loveliness the rest of the team is sharing for the challenge.

Scripture Medley 4 Spotlight Hop

Welcome to Verve's Anni-VERVE-sary Spotlight Hops! There's a new Verve release just around the corner and for the next couple of days we'll be shining our creative spotlights on the new Verve sets and dies releasing this Friday, August 26!  I'm the first stop on today's hop, so why not settle in for a fresh little dose of inspiration?

Today we're sharing inspiration featuring the new Scripture Medley 4 compilation.  Our plain jane line of stamps is retiring, and this compilation includes 7 previous plain janes and two verses from the retired Everlasting Life stamp set. Check out the Verve Blog post today for more on this set and a little bit about our fabulous Guest Divas, Autumn Clark and Hillary Harris!

Since it's Anni-VERVE-sary, I decided to make my card for today in Verve's signature colors... aqua and brown.  I used the Psalm 94:18 verse , embossing it  on a stitched circle die cut and adding a bit of distressing with a stencil and some distress ink.  There are a handful of the Psalm 94:18 plain janes left in the store, but once they're gone this verse will only be available in the  Scripture Medley 4 set.

The flowers are from the previously released Great Friend set, and colored with copics.  One exciting part of this release is a new die set that coordinates with flowers in a new set as well as the beloved Great Friend set. A die for Great Friend has been our most requested product, and I'm super happy that I was able to make it work for a new set as well! Here I used the smallest flower in the set and cut it with the Great Kindness Die Set. The leaves are also part of the die set and I added a few details with a marker.  A bit of white paint, stenciling, and some embossed chicken wire gives it a fun distressed, mixed-media flair.  I finished off with  just a bit of twine behind the flowers and some liquid pearl accents on the flower center.  If you recognize the layout, it's the current sketch by Maureen for Viva la Verve!

Okay, that's all from me today.  Thanks so much for stopping by!
Next up on today's hop is the fabulous Stacey!

Shabby Pink Grace

Hi friends! It's Monday again already (after a fun, but exhausting vacation) and time for a brand new Mojo Monday sketch.  I got a chance to watch a few mixed media videos this weekend and was so inspired, I had to take my card in that direction.

Handmade card by Julee Tilman featuring Verve Stamps. www.poeticartistry.blogspot.com

I started with papers from the Typecast collection, distressing with black soot, pumice stone, spun sugar and vintage photo inks.  Next I added some tattered rose distress paint with a stencil and then splattered some water drops all around. Next I stamped the sentiment from the Scripture Medley 4 compilation in white on vellum and stitched to the square panel.  I roughed up all the edges with a paper distresser.

For my embellishment I chose a paper flower from the stash and lightly sponged with some watered down tattered rose distress paint.  The leaf stem was originally green and brown, but I wanted to pull in the pinks, so covered with heavy white gesso and then coated with frantage shabby pink embossing enamel.  I love the look and it's so sparkly in real life.  A bit of sponged lace and some tattered edges finish things off.
