No Sew Mini Books with Not 2 Shabby

Hi friends! Today I'm taking part in a video hop with my fellow Not 2 Shabby DT members showcasing the April subscription products. This month I'm playing with the fabulous Paper Pad club, coordinating Spring Denim Ephemera, and the Stamp of the Month (which is now available as an add-on to the Paper Pad Club). As part of the hop I'm sharing a video with a closeup look at today's projects and teach you how to make a simple no-sew mini book. You can watch at the link below or on my YouTube channel.

I love to make little non-card projects every now and then, so when I sat down to create the other day I decided to make some little mini books that I could either gift alone, or use as a removable element on a card. I decided on a simple 3 x 3" mini book, so I could get two covers from one 6 x 6" paper.

Project MEASUREMENTS:
Book Cover: 3x6" piece of paper, scored at 3" (on the 6" side)
Book Spine: 1 1/8" x 3", scored 1/2" from either side (on the 1 1/8" side)
Book Pages: 2 7/8" x 5.75", folded in half (on the 5.75" side)

For the first book, I chose the Flowers: the Music of Spring paper pad. I inked the edges of all the papers, rounded the corners, then layered the cover and inside pages together and stapled in the center fold.  The binding is then adhered to the front and back covers to to cover up the staple on the spine.  I decorated with cut outs from the paper pad for the butterfly and the cup of tea. A sentiment from the stamp of the month is stamped directly onto the book cover and the inside pages are decorated with the Sunshine & Petals PET Tape stickers.

To add this to a card, I made a simple pocket with a panel that was a little more than 4"x 3.25". I then scored 1/2 an inch from three sides and folded in to adhere to create a pocket on my background paper.  The book just tucks in on the side, then is held with a butterfly ephemera piece and I finished with another sentiment from the stamp of the month.

I repeated the process for the second book using the same paper pad and cut outs. These books are just so cute and perfect to add quotes, notes of encouragement, or decorate. I created a little mini paperclip closure for this book with some circle punches and a Sunshine & Petals PET sticker.

For the video, I created two more books, this time with the Spring Denim paper pad and coordinating add on Springtime Deinim ephemera. I just love how quick and easy these are and had fun decorating!

I added one of these mini books to a card, sliding it in behind a vertical panel I had added foam tape to either end of. I then used a teeny metal fastener to keep the book shut.

I hope you've enjoyed these fun projects and cards. Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful day!

Rugged Outdoors with Not 2 Shabby

Hi friends! Today I'm popping in with a card I created for my brother with the Rugged Outdoors Cardmaking Kit from N2S. This kit sold out right away when it released, but is back in stock, but only a handful left right now.

I love the grungy papers and the fun scenes of ephemera in the kit. I went with a simple design, with a 3.75" x 5" back panel and a  3.75" x 2" cross strip of coordinating paper.  I blended the edges of each panel, plus the ephemera piece with brushed corduroy ink and then matted each layer with brown cardstock.  The sentiment is from Abstract Florals (a retired set). I finished off with a kraft card base also inked with brushed corduroy.

So simple and quick. I just love how it turned out and now know what my go to kit will be for masculine birthdays!
