August My Monthly Hero Blog Hop + GIVEAWAY

Hi friends! It's time to kick-off another My Monthly Hero release! We're taking a stay-cation with this month's fabulous kit. So many fun ways to create a cozy, relaxing scene, and to send a little hello to friends near and far. And as always, there are a bunch of amazing add-ons to mix and match!

If you've been hopping along, you should have arrived from  Laurie Willison's  blog. Your next hop stop after this will be Jessica Frost-Ballas' blog. The entire hop list can be found later in this post.

My boys love to read and can often be seen huddled over the same book, so this sweet little tent image from the August kit stole my heart.  I built a scene, doing a little masking to add in stacks of books and some grasss.  The background is done with reactive inks, blended together and then wiped with a baby wipe to smooth things out. I added the fancy greetings die from the kit and then the my happy place stamp for my sentiment.

For my next card I had fun scene building with the kit. I colored a bunch of the image up with Copics and then die cut with the coordinating dies, to build a little outdoor scene.  The empty hanging chair seemed like the perfect focal point for a missing you card.

The sentiments are from the new Camp Mi Casa add-on.  I lined up the wish you were here sentiment on my MISTI, and stamped, then moved my panel a 1/4" and stamped again, repeating down the center of the card.  I then layered all my fun die cuts to create the scene.  I then embossed the miss you sentiment in white on black cardstock to add to the bottom.  I matted with adriatic cardstock and then finished with an A2 card base.

If you've been around my blog for any length of time, it's no secret that I love coffee. When I saw there was a teeny coffee cup in Camp Mi Casa, I knew I would have to use it. And the fun tags in the Destination Home Bold Prints background were just calling for a little faux coffee stain technique.

I started by stamping the background on watercolor paper, using a watercolor safe ink.  I then blended with soft brown and cup o' joe inks. Next I pulled out the artprint brown and cocoa watercolor inks and dropped some on my palette, then spritzed with ink and brushed around.  I took two different sized cups and placed the bottoms in the ink and then stamped them onto the background randomly.  When this was done, I painted a few of the tags with the leftover ink as well as adding some splatters.

I then cut the background down to 4" x 5.25"  and inked around the edges with soft brown and cup o' joe.  I cut out the individual tags leftover and kept one strip in which I masked off the IDAHO from the State-Cation Bold Prints and stamped across the strip.  This strip is popped up on foam tape and I added one of the tags I had cut from the leftovers on the side. Then I stamped the sweet little coffee cups from the Camp Mi Casa add-on set, colored with copics and cut with the coordinating frame cuts.

I then masked off the little coffee time postmark from the Destination Home Bold Prints and stamped onto watercolor paper, then used the US Map Infinity Dies to cut it out so the postmark was positioned near(ish) Boise. These stamps and dies are such a fun way to personalize a card! I then inked up the edges of the US die cut with the brown inks and liquid watercolors and popped up to finish things off.

My next card uses the super fun new Tie Dye add-on.  I stamped the different layers in reactive inks onto arctic cardstock and then cut with the  T-shirt Infinity Dies. I inked around the edges of the shirt for a little shading and then embossed the you're fabulous sentiment from Bubble Bath in the center.

Next I stamped the tie dye layers randomly all over a white background.  I wanted the t-shirt to stand out a little bit, so I coated a panel of vellum with an adhesive sheet and then layered over my stamped background for a frosty, muted look.  The t-shirt is popped up on foam tape. There are so many fabulous ways you could customize these T-shirt dies with stamps from the kit and add-ons!

FANTASTIC cards Julee! Love the vintage look of the one using the background stamp set. How clever of Hero Arts to create a tie-dye stamp set as well as the Nesting T-Shirt dies. I really like the colours you used on that card. I think the first card is just adorable with the two kids in the tent & the stack of books off to the side. Our tent saw much use with our children & then grand-children camping out in the backyard. I love this release!
