September My Monthly Hero Blog Hop + GIVEAWAY

Hi friends! It's time to kick-off another FABULOUS My Monthly Hero release. The September kit is filled with curiosities and even a fabulous new peek-a-boo die. A fabulous collection of add-ons complements this release beautifully,  so be sure to check them all out in the shop!

As we launch this kit, our hearts are heavy with the news out of the Bahamas, and our thoughts are with the East Coast of the United States as we all hope and pray the hurricane stays out to sea. For each September kit sold, $1 will be donated to help those impacted by the devastation and displacement caused by Hurricane Dorian.

If you've been hopping along, you should have arrived from Janette Kaussen's blog. Your next hop stop after this will be Laurie Willison's blog. The entire hop list can be found later in this post.

GIVEAWAY:
Once again, Hero Arts is generously giving away a fabulous prize for a lucky commenter along the hop.  Leave a little love in the comments section for all these amazing artists and if your name is drawn you'll receive this month's kit absolutely free! Enter by Sunday, September 8th at 11:59pm pacific, and the winner will be announced on the Hero Arts blog the following week.

For my first card, I decided to make this card without dies, so I stamped the cabinet frame and filled it with tons of the fun stamps in the kit.  Next I spent a fun time coloring it all in with Copic markers, adding some greys in the shadows to give a little depth.  I added a bit of doodling to the labels and drawer pulls, making it look like each item had been lovingly categorized and labeled.

To add a little dimension, I stamped the butterfly, moth, feather and leaf again, colored and then fussy cut to pop up on the card. I also cut a rectangle and stamped the you are one of a kind sentiment to pop up to make it stand out. This card was so much fun to make! I had no idea how satisfying it would be to fill in this little cabinet!

In fact, it was so much fun, I couldn't stop there.  There's a fabulous add-on that works perfectly with the cabinet frame.  I stamped the frame again on white cardstock, then filled in with the Pure Magic images and sentiments.  Next I cut the peekaboo cabinet die in the kit from black cardstock, then embossed the frame image in gold.

To finish off the card, I cut some of the doors off, as if they were just shelves, then accented the remaining doors with hinge die cuts from the Cabinet Door Fancy Die cut from gold paper. I love the way these sweet little hinges and door knockers look paired with the kit!

I really adore all the sweet little images and sentiments in the set and decided this autumn greetings sentiment from the kit would work perfectly with a fun reactive ink background.  So I pulled out fruit punch, lemon drop and creamsicle and smooshed and splattered until I had a background I was happy with.  The Curiosities Silhouette Fancy Dies really captured my interest and I thought this winged creature would make the perfect accoutrement to this card.

I cut it from black cardstock, then ran the die through with white cardstock so it just embossed the image.  I then blended the three colors of reactive ink on this, cut out and layered behind the black die cut. To finish things off, I coated this in embossing & watermark ink, then embossed with sparkle embossing powder. It's so sparkly!

My final card for today started with the fun happy halloween word die from the kit.  I blended seedless preserves distress oxide,  and creamsicle and lemon drop inks onto cardstock, then cut the word die out.  I layered three diecuts for thickness, then coated everything with watermark ink and embossed in sparkle embossing powder.  I just love this look.  I added this to a strip of cardstock and accented with the spider web die cut from the Curiosities Silhouette Fancy Dies.

For the background, I blended the same three colors on a panel of white cardstock, then added the Ornate Floral Stencil and blended black soot distress oxide over the whole thing.  Isn't the final look so cool?  I finished off with a stamp from the Sacred Florals add-on, colored with Zig markers and cut with the coordinating frame cuts.

Okay,  if you're still with me, you deserve a crafty high five! ✋  I had a lot of fun creating with this month's kit and add-ons.

Wow those are some great looking cards! The Pure Magic card looks very dimensional like a shadow box. Very nice background behind that butterfly. That is a great technique to add black over color with a stencil.
