Valentine Wishes and a Seasons Givings Winner

Hi friends! Thanks so much for popping in today. It's been a super busy time in my studio leading up to the My Monthly Hero blog hop and the Reverse Confetti blog hop. Things will slow down for me for a little bit now, so I can finally slip into the groove of the new year.

Today I thought I'd share another card I made with the new Hero Arts release. This month's kit is so much fun, I just couldn't stop creating with it!  The kits are only available while supplies last, so be sure to grab yours before they're gone! If you haven't yet, be sure to hop along and leave some comments on the My Monthly Hero blog hop for a chance to win this month's kit. Deadline is Sunday, January 13th at 11:59pm Pacific.

For this card,  I started with that sweet little bicycle image from the January My Monthly Hero Kit, coloring with Copics, then adding the heart balloons image as if ti were tied to the rack. These die cut pieces are mounted on fun foam for some dimension against the fun background. The background uses the gorgeous Bursting With Love Bold Prints background add-on stamped in blushing bride ink. I just love this fabulous background. I blended the same color ink around the edges, then embossed a sentiment from the You Are Loved Flourish Messages add-on set in black. I cut this panel and its mat with the Rounded Rectangles Infinity Dies to finish things off.

Alright, now it's time to announce the winner of my Seasons Givings giveaway! I've had so much fun reading your entertainment recommendations over the past week. I've definitely got a good list of things on my want to read and watch list now! I've listed  a few of my sparks for 2018 below, but first let's announce the winner of the box of goodies.

Congrats Brenda!
I've sent you an email to get your shipping address so I can send this box of goodies your way. 😀

Alrighty, if you're interested, here are a few of the things that sparked my interest in 2018.

The Broken Earth series by N.K. Jemisin
One of the best Fantasy series I've read. Beautifully written and hauntingly thoughtful. Still has me thinking about humanity and the preciousness of each life on the planet.

The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
Read the book and watched the series on Hulu. Completely disturbing (especially the TV show) and thought provoking. Made me really consider how the acquiescence of small liberties over and over again could ultimately lead to enslavement of an entire people. We cannot be silent. We need to cherish human life and stand up for humanity even more when those around us would tell us we have no voice.

The Super Turbo series by Lee Kirby
So this is a kid's chapter book series about a bunch of elementary school class pets turned super hero and their shenanigans to save the school from supposed threats. Chapter books can be a bit dry, formulaic, and in the case of what my boys usually pick, inundated with potty humor. Since I need to listen to 20 minutes a day x 2, I appreciate a series with a storyline that's entertaining and humorous without the potty humor and appeals to both adults and children. Four thumbs up from the boys, four thumbs up from the parents.

The Mountain Between Us was the movie that stuck out the most for me this year. I love survival stories - it's such a testament to the human spirit. My hubby and I both had low expectations starting the movie and were pleasantly surprised by how entertaining and engrossing this movie was. I wasn't aware when I watched it that it was based on a book, so now I need to add it to my 2019 reading list.

I like to watch YouTube when my boys have their weekly appointments. My top two new to me in 2018 YouTube channels were...

Kelly Latevola - After about 10 years, I'm finally learning to use my Copic,s mostly just from watching Kelly color and listening to her little everyday rambles. I love her fabulous cards and also her sense of humor. Listening to her little stories totally makes me smile and makes the waiting room time go by quickly.

Korin Wiskman - Another funny crafter that makes me smile. Love her ability to laugh at all the things that go wrong in the crafting process, and her love for stamping really shines through in everything she does.

Well, that's a wrap for this post. Thanks for stopping by!

I am beyond thrilled to win and thank you so much! This card is such a cute Valentine. Love the background and those sweet little balloons. Something you might get a kick out of on YouTube is Wonky Donkey. Watch the grandmother read the story to her little grandson.
