September My Monthly Hero Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hi friends! So I must have done something right last month, because Hero Arts invited me back for this month's September My Monthly Hero Release Hop! Hooray! You're in for such a  treat as this amazingly talented list of designers share their products with this month's gorgeous main kit and all the FABULOUS add-ons release! Seriously, I've made 7 cards already and there are so many more ideas just waiting to jump out onto paper! Plus there's an awesome giveaway! You could win the September main kit by hopping along and giving a shout out in the comments to each of these amazing artists. The giveaway closes Sunday, September 9th at 11:59pm, and the winner will be announced the following week on the Hero Arts Blog.
If you're just popping in, the hop started over on the Hero Arts Blog. If you've been hopping along already,  you should have arrived from the oh-so-fabulous Nichol Spohr's blog. Now, let's get to the business of creativity!  Warning... this one's another long post, so I hope you've got a cup of something yummy to sip as you peek in at what I've created. Cheers!

If you've followed me for awhile, you probably know that fall is my favorite time of year. Full of beauty, vibrant colors, a return to livable temperatures, and a sweet (much appreciated) reprieve from the cacophony of kids home from summer break! {happy sigh} I just couldn't wait to ink up the beautiful leaves and branches in this kit. I mean, this kit is an autumn loving papercrafter's dream. am I right? Complete with a fall dot palette of Daniel Smith watercolors, what's not to love?

Hero Arts September MMH Kit - available while supplies last!

For my card, I stamped the maple branches on watercolor paper in Hero Arts Intense Black. I love how this ink works with watercolor! I then used the tester palette from the kit as well as some drops of the orange liquid watercolor from this month's add-ons and the cocoa liquid watercolor to color the leaves, the single maple leaf and the leafy sprig. The leaf and sprigs are cut with coordinating frame cuts.

To add a bit of sparkle, I added a little crystal clear lacquer to the leaves and sprinkled with glitter.  For my backdrop, I cut down a 4 x 6 Amber Moon notecard and layered a piece of text paper, then sponged everything with antique linen, gathered twigs and early espresso distress oxides.  The happy autumn sentiment is embossed in gold and I added espresso mats, some gold thread and distressed edges to finish things off.

My next card was inspired by the beautiful Ornate Floral Stencil add-on. Inking this with distress oxides in mustard seed, spiced marmalade and ripe persimmon produced just the backdrop I was looking for for a beautiful vase of flowers. I embossed the vase in gold, then watercolored with orange and cocoa liquid watercolors and fussy cut, cutting a little slit in the vase to fit my stamped and cut flower stem. Aren't these branch of lantern flowers so beautiful? They are stamped in intense black and colored with arteza real brush pens and a zig wink of stella clear glitter pen.

To finish the card, I matted my stenciled panel with gold foil paper, added a strip of sparkly gold ribbon and embossed the life is full of beauty sentiment.

For my next card, I used the same vase, but a different stem of flowers. I envisioned this dark scene bursting with color to go along with the sentiment, so started the card off by cutting the fancy frame cut and oval from the kit from chipboard and then using it as a stencil to sponge hickory smoke and black soot distress oxides onto a piece of basic gray cardstock.  I love the shadowy effect and how vibrant the stamped and die cut images are against it.

To continue the theme, I blended a rainbow of color using all of the arteza real brush pens I used to color the images for a mat for the sentiment.  I tucked in a few little stamped and die cut accents to finish and added a bit of sparkle with a mixture of crystal clear lacquer and glitter.

My final card for today branches out a bit. When I saw the naked branches in this set I couldn't help but think how beautiful they would look with a dusting of snow. So I stamped and watercolored them on a prima watercolor panel and then outlined with my trusty crystal clear lacquer pen. While the lacquer was still wet, I added white puff embossing powder and embossed for a puffy covering of snow. This also did double duty of covering most of my watercoloring booboos! 😊

The background panel is from an old Authentique Peaceful paper pad and I embossed it with the 3D lumber texture fade, then sanded to bring out more of the texture.  I added the branch out sentiment from the kit and attached a hardware clip embellished with a little bow and paper flower I watercolored to match. I think this might be a perfect new years card. New beginnings and blank slates and all.

I hope you've enjoyed my creations and gained a bit of inspiration for using your own kit! The add-ons this month are simply beautiful, as well, and I'll have more cards this week sharing my projects with them. The imagery in these sets is just amazing. Hope to see you back here again soon!

You've done incredible work on the cards for this Sept MMH. Even thuogh using the themed sets, each card is separate in its own right. I was highly surprised when I got to the snow covered branch. The beauty of it shined through, even though you covered up all your boo-boos. lol
