Seasons Givings Blog Hop Year 6

Hi there! It's Seasons Givings Blog Hop time again and I'm so excited to be participating again this year. A big shout-out to Latisha Yoast, who does all the behind the scenes work to put on this annual blog hop. The entire blog hop is about giving back and thanking our awesome readers, and each and every stop on the hop is doing their own giveaway! How cool is that?

I'm just a few days shy of 11 years of blogging here at Poetic Artitstry and am so grateful for all the friends I have made here over the years. Sharing inspiration is something I love to do and I am so blessed by those of you who take the time to send your support in comments, emails, cards and orders. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've also been blessed with a husband who supports my creative endeavors and doesn't mind an entire room of the house devoted just to papercraft things lined up in rainbow order. So I have an overflowing treasure trove of goodness in my stamp room, and new stuff from Santa to put away! I'm offering up the following giveaways as a thanks to all of you for your support and friendship. Here's to a bright and shiny 2018!

I enjoy a lot of different styles of crafting, but my heart always brings me back to shabby chic or mixed media creations when I'm creating just to create. My start at a card for this hop quickly turned into a little 5X7" canvas.

Back before the holidays, I was shopping for Christmas papers and I saw this KaiserCraft Romance line of paper and ephemera and had to bring the last remaining single sheets they had home with me.  Fast forward to New Year's Eve and as I packed my Christmas papers away, I stumbled across these beautiful papers and just had to make something.

I love the quote on this ephemera piece, and since it seemed fitting for celebrating a new year that was my jumping off point. Next I cut a designer paper panel, distressed the edges and then added a couple layers of lace and some pearl flourish stickers.  At this point my card took a detour to a canvas because I remembered these awesome resin frames I picked up at Michaels a while ago.  I painted it with glitter paste and then while that was drying, layered some of the ephemera flowers how I wanted them then added it all to the frame.

The canvasboard is treated with heavy gesso, then I used a Prima stencil to add texture with White Sands Crackle Paste.  Once things were dry, I added a seam binding bow, a wood flourish painted with texture paste and glimmer paste, and a few random flowers from my stash.

Okay, there's my project in a nutshell, let's move on to the giveaways...

To enter my giveaway, leave me a comment telling me the favorite book you read in 2017, or if you were too busy to read (no shame in that, I've got two little kiddos so most of the books I've read are about Pete the Cat!), tell me your favorite movie or TV show.

Giveaway 1 {winner must have a US shipping address}

Flat rate box of papercrafting goodies. Stamp sets, dies, paper pads, stencils, embossing folders. There's still room in the box, so I'm sure more will be added before shipment.

Giveaway 2 {US & International winners welcome}

My second giveaway is a $50 gift code to my shop, Verve Stamps

Comment deadline for the prize drawing is 8:00 pm Mountain on Monday, January 8.  Please check back on Jan. 9 to see if you are a winner.

If you're new here and like what you see, I'd love for you to subscribe to my blog over there in the sidebar. You can also find me on Instagram at www.instagram.com/vervegirl or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/poeticartistryblog

If you're new to Verve, we've got our year end clearance sale going on through January 3 with everything 35% off, plus save an additional 15% off your order with gift code GBUY17.

Happy hopping and happy new year!
Next up on the hop is Karen Baker.

I laughed so hard at Pete the Cat!! I work full time and hardly have time to pursue my passion of card making... so I will just cut to the chase and tell you my favorite movie of all time is Somewhere in time - a beautiful movie! Your projects are beautiful - happy new year and thanks for the chance to win something awesome.

I pick Hallmark Romance or Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on TV every time no matter how soppy they might be! If there's a choice of prizes, I would select #2 but I can understand if a non-USA is selected that would be the most sensible prize to award them. Thanks for the opportunity to win and to see your lovely creations for the first time...Gorgeous!

I always love your projects and this beauty is no exception! What a fabulous prize package you've put together! (US)
I know it's YA, but I really liked Rysa Walkers Timebound/Chronos series. My 90 year old aunt and I enjoy reading Laura Childs' simple cozy Tea Shop mysteries ... they started me into the world of tea!

Happy New Year. I love prize 1. 2017 my favorite book was ... Who am I kidding I haven't picked up a book in years due to lack of time and my love reading doesn't go well with my eyes. I pick my favorite TV show was and still is Heartland.

I love to read all books. Any and all James Patterson was my fav in 2017.

Ooo, books. Now you're talking my language. I love A Study in Scarlet Women and its sequel A Conspiracy in Belgravia by Sherry Thomas. Basically it's lady Sherlock Holmes set in the same time period as Conan Doyle, so it really digs into what it would be like for a woman to have that kind of mind in that time, plus it's so fun to see all the shout-outs to canon. Also, if you want something new for your boys, my nieces (who are a little younger than your boys) love "The Tickle Book" by Ian Whybrow. It's a lift-the-flap book where you get to be the tickle monster. Also, if you want something to listen to, I love the BBC Radio 4 series called "Cabin Pressure." Hilarious 28 minute episodes about the world's most ridiculous airline (okay, it's only one jet, so airdot).

Anyway, so the point I believe was...crafting? ;-) Thank you for your generosity, and I hope you have a fantastic new year!

Such a pretty canvas! Your work is absolutely beautiful! I can picture that canvas on a nightstand in a cozy cottage. I didn't read as much as I would have liked, but I did enjoy reading, "A Man Named Ove", finally.

It took me 4 days to figure out how to comment but i finally figured it out! your site has to be on the web page version rather than mobile. Woohoo!!
Having not read them in over 10+yrs & the big whoop-de-doo about the tv series, I've gone back to the Outlander series. As much as I love the series, I feel books are always better than tv or movies.
I want to thank you for not only my very first stamp set but my very first stamp & die set! I absolutely love them!! & the packaging was too cute! I have most everything I need for my first card! <3 <3 From one Julee to another THANK YOU for my purchase & thank you for your participation & generosity in the Blog Hop

I haven't read much lately...after working 2 jobs and crafting on the side! But I do enjoy watching "Poldark"...I just learned about it in 2017 and then binge watched season 1 & 2! It's one of those where you just want to yell at the main actor "What are you doing?!" Lol. Anyway, I enjoy Verve stamps and I love your style...Shabby Chic is not an easy one for me! Happy New Year!

Hi! I've got two kids, ages 4 & 5, so I just have to say - thanks for understanding that the only books I've read lately are children's books - ha! However, once the little ones are asleep, I can get to crafting while watching a show. Two shows I enjoyed last year were Outlander and The Crown. Thanks for the chance to win your awesome prizes & hope your 2018 is wonderful!

Happy New Year to you! Such beautiful, ornate details on your project. I love the soft colour palette of the piece. One of my favourite books this year was actually one that my daughters borrowed from the library - The Invention of Hugo Cabret. Thank you for offering this generous giveaway.
