Valentine Mojo

Hi friends! It's Monday again and time for a new Mojo Monday sketch.  This week we have a fun square sketch for you to play with.

Handmade card by Julee Tilman using Verve Stamps. www.poeticartistry.blogspot.com

I used the heart from Love Everlasting and the coordinating Everlasting Heart Die Set for my card, embossing the sentiment from No Matter What on a vellum die cut overlay.  A bit of ribbon and some liquid pearls are my accent choices and I embossed the back panel with a heart embossing folder and then sponged with distress inks.

Short and sweet today as I'm still suffering from bronchitis and a sinus infection. Hoping this round of antibiotics does the trick.

Love One Another

Hi friends! I'm back with another card using the limited time free digi I designed for Verve. The boys have been home sick all week from school (actually between sickness and snow days I think they've only attended a total of 6 days all month) and yesterday I needed a mommy break really badly.  So I let them both play  iPad and snuck into my studio!

I cut a sheet of white cardstock down to 4.25 x 5.5" pieces and prepped them all together.  Each one was swiped with heavy gesso, then I added Faber Castell whipped spackle to each one with a star stencil.  I let this dry, then sprinkled on some Lindys Stamp Gang Magical powders and spritzed with water.  I dried this layer, then added some distress inks in citron and peacock feathers and ground espresso.  When needed I wiped ink away with a baby wipe, until I was happy with the background.

The sentiment is printed from the free limited time Love From Me digital set and I cut it with a pierced square die.  Next I colored the heart in rainbow colors with Copic markers, sponged with a bit of ground espresso and batted on black.  A bit of rose ribbon is my only accent.  I finished off with a black mat and some distressed edges all around.  And now I have a few extra backgrounds to work into cards later! I can't wait to see what they become..

Love From Me

Hi friends! I'm back again with another card I made with the limited time free digi set from Verve. Since most of the digis I've designed have involved coffee, I decided to keep with tradition and include a couple coffee related images and sentiments.  After all, love and coffee are a perfect combination, don't ya think? {wink}

For my card, I started with the pdf printable of the Love From Me set, and cut the hearts, the love cup and the from me to you sentiment with a stitched circle die.  I colored with Copics and added some Nuvo crystal drops for a glitzy accent.  Next I die cut the Coffee Word Die from early espresso and grabbed a piece of crumb cake cardstock to make the background.  The coffee stain stamp is from the Better With You stamp set and I added just a hint of sponging around the edges.

I balanced out the darkness of the coffee word with a panel of espresso below, then tied on a striped bow and added some little dew drops in the corner that I found while ransacking my craft closet for collage supplies for the boys this weekend.  They had a blast making their little art pieces.  I always knew my craft supply collection would come in handy someday!  Definitely worth the 30 minutes of priceless silence this activity created.

If you use the digi, I'd love to see what you create.  Link me up over on this post on the Verve blog and you might win a little Verve, to boot!

My Favorite Day

Hi friends! It's Monday again and time for another Mojo Monday sketch.  This week Trevor and I have a super easy go to sketch for you.  We hope you'll play along.

My card came together in less than 10 minutes using the brand new limited time Love from Me digital freebie and the current thank you gift (paper, doily and ribbon) with an order from Verve.  I printed the pdf, cut the sentiment with a pierced square die, then cut the pink paper to 2" x 3.75" and the black paper to 4 x 5.25".  The doily is glued down to the black layer and trimmed off, then I tied a black seam binding bow around the pink layer and glued everything down on a white card base.  Easy peasy!

I just love this sentiment and think it would be perfect for so many occasions. It pairs with a few love themed sentiments and a lovey dovey coffee cup to round out the Love From Me set. The set is available as a FREE download through February 14.  If you make something wonderful with the set, head over to the Verve blog and link it up for a chance to win a $40 gift voucher to the Verve store. I'm also sharing another card I made with this set and Mojo sketch over there if you want to come and take a peek.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  For more inspiration with this sketch, head on over to the Mojo Monday blog to see what the other designers are sharing today.

Perfectly Wonderful Card Concept

Hi friends! It's the start of a new challenge over at The Card Concept today.  I couldn't wait to play with the colors as soon as I saw the inspiration pic.  I intended to have a mostly white card with a splash of orange, but by the time I finished my orange piece, I couldn't bear to cut it down, so it became the backdrop for the entire card.

I loved the black and white photos in the inspiration with the super wide white mats, so tried to reproduce that for my sentiment panel.  I modpodged a piece of black and white tissue paper to a white panel, then stamped the sentiment from Words of Wisdom  on vellum and laid over the top.  It has a nice little effect in real life, but of course for the photo shoot that vellum decided to fly up, so you can't see the tissue paper behind very much.

The background started as white cardstock, covered in heavy gesso.  Then I sprinkled on some orange Magical powders and spritzed until I was happy (well actually, a little giddy) with the results.  I finished off with some wide pink ribbon that reminded me of the blanket in the photo, a fun prima flower and a teeny library clip.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! For a little more inspiration, head on over to The Card Concept blog to see what amazingness the other designers have created with the inspiration.  We'd love to have you play along!

More than Chocolate

Hi friends! It's Monday again already and that means it's time for a new Mojo Monday sketch.  My son, Trevor, helped me with the sketches this month.  He sat on my lap and told me what shapes to draw and where to draw them.  I think we might have a little sketch master in the making! {grin} When we finished the month's sketches he told me he would help me with February's on another day, he needed a break!

As my boys say, it's been winter for days and days and days around here. With all the snow and rain and freezing temperatures, I felt like I needed a little perking up.  So I chose these fun, vibrant papers from the Fancy Free collection by Pink Paislee.  Each layer is matted in basic gray cardstock.  I stamped the sentiment and the candy hearts from the Chocolate set in grey ink, then colored the candies with copics and die cut the circles.  The Chocolate Word Die  is cut from basic gray cardstock and I finished with a bit of taffeta ribbon and a bow.

It wasn't planned, but I kind of love how the word bubble that catches my eye on the designer paper is the one that says "whatever".  Which is what I can totally imagine Mark saying when he reads this sentiment!  LOL

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Head on over to the Mojo Monday blog to see what the other designers did with this sketch.  We hope you'll play along!

Where There Is Love

Hi friends! We've been in the middle of a snowpocalypse here in Idaho, and the boys have been going stir crazy with only one day in school last week due to weather.  I've shoveled our driveway about 17 times in the past week, moving everything from mountains of snow to sheets of slushy ice.  Now everything is wet and rainy, our street is already starting to flood and both boys are sick. The forecast is for moisture all week long, so it seems the fun has only just begun. Definitely a crazy start to the year.

I did sneak in a little time yesterday afternoon while the boys were wrapped up in a game of solitaire and made a two-fer card.  I missed Wednesday's Card Concept 64 challenge, so I combined it with today's Mojo Monday 479 sketch.

The papers are scraps I had on my desk totally fit the inspiration photo and the style of the lettering in the graphic made me think of the More than Love set.  I stamped the quote in black, then cut with a stitched square and matted with shiny gold paper.  I stamped the heart in crimson ink, then colored a bit with a blender pen.  The smaller heart is embossed in gold and colored with the crimson ink and a blender pen.  I hand cut the smaller heart and die cut the larger one with the Wavy Hearts Die Set.  A bit of black ribbon, a Flourished Trim Die to separate my layers and a shimmery golden sticker that was lying on my desk was the final touch on this card which is part classy and elegant and part clean and layered.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Hope you have a fabulous week.

Due to all the snow days here and no time to change over the website, our end of year sale has been extended through tomorrow (1/10/17).  All in-stock stamps and dies are 35% off and retiring products are 50% off.  Plus, save an additional 15% on your entire purchase with code SNOWDAY.

Hi friends! Happy New Year and welcome to my Mojo Monday post on a Tuesday. I had every intention of having a card ready for Monday, but to say that life has been busy and chaotic of late is to put it mildly. The twins are back at Montessori today for the first time in what seems like forever and I've had the house to myself for a few hours. And three weeks of work to catch up on. And now it's almost time to pick them up and I'm completely exhausted.  Definitely going to have to have an afternoon cup of coffee... or two!

I started my card by digging through my box of scraps. I pulled out some papers in colors that I liked and then layered them together like the Mojo Monday sketch. By the way, it's contest week, so come join us for a chance to win some Verve!  I added some black matting, then stamped the cross from Faith Medley in mountain mist ink  in the center of the stitched circle.  I over stamped the 1 Peter 5:7 verse (also from Faith Medley) in black and then popped the circle up on dimensionals to finish off. Quick, easy, and would work as an encouragement card for either a guy or a girl.  Hooray!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope your day is filled with happy!
