Angel Voices Blog Hop

Welcome back to Verve's October Spotlight Hops! Over the weekend we launched a new crop of Verve stamps and dies. Today we're shining our spotlight on the first set in our release, Angel Voices. It's a sweet little Christmas set themed around some favorite Christmas hymns and inspired by some childhood ornaments of mine. And for even more fun, this set has a coordinating die set, the Angelic Die Set with dies for the two sizes of angels and all the mini shapes.

It's also contest week at Mojo Monday, and today's card features this week's sketch.  Come play along for a chance to win some Verve of your very own!

As a child, my Mom put a new ornament in our Christmas stocking each year, marking our initials and the year on the bottom.  I LOVED taking the box out each year and looking through the ornaments.  One year all three of us received teeny little wooden angel ornaments.  I think they were each carrying a different instrument, but we each got a different color. Mine was red, my brother's was blue and my sister's was yellow and they all had polka dots.  So my focal point for this card was totally taken from that memory.

I started with the small angel with cross from Angel Voices, stamping in archival ink, then masking her off and stamping one more on each side. I then colored them with Copics, adding a little silver paint to the wings and halos.  The crosses are cut with the Angelic Die Set , and then I stamped over them with the thatched cross from the stamp set.

The sentiment is embossed in silver onto a Mini Classy Label die cut and matted with silver.  I added lots of silver matting with a simple white background to make the colors just pop.  A border using the Scalloped Trim Die Set sets the bottom off and I finished with a double bow and jingle bells.  All in all a super fun card to make, and the memories of Christmases past twinkle each time I look at this card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
Next up on today's hop is the fabulous Marisa!
