Viva la Beautiful You

Hi friends! Happy Friday. Maureen has a brand-new sketch for us over on the Viva la Verve blog today, and it's a super fun one.  Maybe I'm partial to circles and tilted panels, but this one really inspired me.  And I got to use one of the new paper pads that called my name on a recent shopping spree.

The other day I was searching in my studio to find where I put the boys' paintbrushes (which I never found) and I discovered an ENTIRELY forgotten box filled to the brim with all sorts of delightfully shabby embellishments.  It was like Christmas!  I even at some point when the twins were very young, had decorated a bunch of empty baby food jars with washi tape and it was so much fun opening each one up to see what charms and found items I had tucked away.  I knew I needed to use a few of them on this card!

I started by cutting all my paper pieces from this beautiful collection by Authentique.  I knew I wanted to use one of the butterflies on one of the papers, so hand cut that and added it to a butterfly from The Big Box of Shabby Awesomeness.  I distressed all the edges with antique linen and then tea dye ink to give a vintage look, then dry embossed the chicken wire onto the teal paper, sanding it away to make the design stand out.  The sentiment is from the Beautiful Things stamp set and stamped in early espresso.  I added some newly re-discovered burlap ribbon and a few enamel dots as embellishment, then a teensy bit of washi to the top of the circle.  The library clip holds on the pretty skeleton leaf to finish things off.

Well, that's all for me today.  I hope you have a fabulous start to the weekend!  Thanks so much for stopping by! If you're looking to pick up a little Verve, we received two restocking shipments this week and they're all 20% off, plus we've got free weekend shipping for US orders over $30.  Hooray!

Oh my, you hit the motherlode when you found all the wonderful things stashed away. What a gorgeous card with this fabulous DP, and I love the butterfly you've fussy cut and added gold to. And what a beautiful sentiment and die. I have the dies cut and am trying to figure out how to incorporate with the flowers from this set that I've colored. Just behind (a little - especially after cutting my finger...). Hugs, sweet friend, and get a good night's sleep!
