Today's sketch is somewhat simple and perfect for using up scraps, or adding a little mixed media collage of goodness to your card, like I did. I recently purchased some Magicals powders from Lindy's Stamp Gang and I had to play around with them on this card. So much fun... and since they're having a Labor Day sale, a few more sets *may* have JUMPED into my shopping cart yesterday!
The backgrounds for all the turquoise layers started out white. The darker panel is watercolor paper, the lighter panels are white cardstock prepped with heavy gesso. I dripped and splattered to my little heart's content, then added in some white paint wherever I thought necessary. Used the MISTI to stamp the sentiment from Kindness Matters three times so it would be nice and crisp on top of all my layers of ink, gesso and paint.
One of the vertical strips is a scrap of designer paper, crinkled with a paper corrugator and finger painted with white paint and a black oil pastel. The other strip was chipboard that I had die cut and painted with leftover mixed up Magicals, then smudged some oil pastel and paint on as well. I distressed all the edges, then finished off with a flower from Petaloo and a bunch of silver thread nestled in behind my pieces.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you're enjoying the long weekend. We've had all sorts of fun with family and are headed out on another fun excursion with the boys today. If you're in the mood to shop (like I certainly have been), we've got 20% all sorts of sweet deals, including our new release, plus free US shipping on orders over $30. Shipping promo is good through Tuesday, Sep. 6.
