An Imperfect Life

Hi friends!  It's Monday again and that means it's time for another Mojo Monday sketch.  I had a couple hours while the grandparents were here this weekend to spend a little time in my studio, and boy do I miss stamping!  {grin}

The Making of:
I haven't been able to do much art journaling lately, so I decided to do a little mixed-media treatment on this card with some distress stains, distress markers and some scraped on white paint.  I clipped on a little heart shape die cut using the From the Heart Die Set and added a texture rub-on in the corner that seemed to go with the splotchy circles on this Anthologie paper.  I'm pretty sure I've had this notebook border punch forever and only used it once, so I thought I'd turn the rectangle from the sketch into a little notepad look.  And because life isn't perfect, I had to give it a little tilt when I glued it on.

The Inspiration:
This sentiment from Words of Wisdom really speaks to my heart.  There is nothing perfect about my life right now.  I'm stressed out, sleep deprived, depressed and generally wondering why God thinks I can handle all the things life has thrown my way recently.  But every now and then, even on the darkest days, there are still glimpses of wonderful.  And I realize that even though my life isn't the picture of perfection I had planned, it's going to be okay.  Life is what it is... and every now and then it surprises you with a bit of wonderful.

Okay, that's all from me today.  Thanks so much for stopping by and remember to hop on by the Mojo blog to see the inspiration from the rest of the design team!  Have a great week!

Beautiful card Julee. So sorry about your cat, I have four so I know how they affect your life. It takes awhile for all those hormones to settle down and lack of sleep doesn't help. Now don't you wonder what you did with all your time? You will get a routine so it will get better. And now that they boys are up to 10 pounds they will start sleeping a little longer....hopefully. I know having my daughter threw me for a loop because I like to feel organized and having kids sometimes you have to be spontaneous and "go with the flow". Best wishes are being sent to you.

The card and the sentiment are both so beautiful. Sometimes it's harder to see the wonderful things, but it always makes you feel better when you look!

Thanks for the inspiration,

Cindy :)

This is gorgeous! Hang on to those glimpses when it seems dark. The glimpses will eventually get longer and you will return to a new normal!

such a beautiful card with so many little treasures on it. I love when you do mixed media :) So happy to hear the grandparents came to visit! A little break is just what the doctor ordered I'm sure :) Yes, I was thinking the same thing the other day...God does think you can handle this somehow and some where down the line you will look back and it will make sense. One day at a time....sending you hugs and the hopes that there will be more inky time for you soon :)

So glad you got a little inky time - it soothes the soul :) Fun papers and love the little heart with the clip on it.

Huge hug for you - the first three months are tough...much of it due to lack of sleep. Hated them, myself and make up couldn't cover the bags under my eyes for months LOL! Things DO get better once they sleep more at night and you won't be as "raw". Remember you aren't in it alone, God is there always and don't be afraid to ask for help. Prayers are with you!!

Beautiful card. Hang in there, it gets better. In the meantime I recommend chocolate, naps and a few extra pair of jammies. I lived in mine when I was doing the baby thing. Smiles.

Julee, this card is wonderful and it's so great that you got some time to make it and even better that you are able to express some of what is going on in your life with one of your wonderful quotes.
I love the little heart and the clip on it, the polka dot ribbon treatment and the DP.
I'm praying for you - God knows what you're going through and He knows where you're at emotionally too. He WILL see you through.

This is beautiful, Julee! Great colors and fabulous mixed media feel! Glad that you got to go into your studio for some therapeutic stamping time (sometimes that's one of the best gifts!) I certainly hope that things get easier for you soon (I can say they will, but it doesn't always feel like it...but they will ").
Hope you had a nice Mother's Day!

So happy you had some stamping time this weekend. Love your card and the mixed media treatment is wonderful.
As for motherhood-everyone is right. It does get better and you will survive this. If you are a Type A, like me, it stresses you out to have things in turmoil but the reality is that it's only for a little while. Your sentiment is absolutely perfect for this card!
Big Hugs,
Lisa S.
