Birthday Mojo

Hi friends!  I spent a little time in my studio yesterday trying to distract myself from thinking about the boys in the NICU, so I've got a Mojo Monday card to share with you.  This sketch by Teresa had some clean lines that I thought would be perfect for a masculine birthday card I needed to make.

I pulled out the Birthday Bash set and paper pieced the cake on some Loyal paper by Authentique, adding green stars and some Dark Chocolate liquid pearls for the icing.  A little hardware frame from my stash sets off the sentiment and I tied it on with a little linen thread.

Kellan & Trevor Update:
The boys continue to improve each day.  They're now trying room air a little, but have to go back to the nasal cannulas when they get tired.  They've started taking a bottle now instead of just the feeding tube and they've graduated to a single crib.  We're hoping that having the dynamic duo back together will hasten their development.  At this point it looks like we're still looking at at least another 1-3 weeks in the NICU.  Here's our first look at the boys side by side.  They looked so peaceful sleeping next to each other and it's so awesome to finally see them together!

Enabler's List:
Stamps:  Birthday Bash (Verve Stamps)
Paper:  Loyal (Authentique), Early Espresso (SU!), White
Ink: Onyx Black (Versafine), Antique Linen (Ranger Distress), Copic markers
Accessories:  Hodgepodge hardware, linen thread (SU!), bracket border punch (EK Success), Dark Chocolate Liquid Pearls (Ranger), paper piercer

Julee, The last time I checked the boys hadn't been born yet - so I was shocked by all of the news today! Kind of fun to catch up on so much progress already.

I had a baby at 34 weeks and he was in NICU in Boise. Such great doctors and nurses there! My "premie" is now 8 - the biggest kid in his class and the healthiest of our family.

Congratulations! The boys are adorable.

Beautiful card, Julee, and a beautiful picture of the boys, too. Looks like one of them is going to be a pacifier baby! I loved pacifiers!!! : )

They are a beautiful sight and indeed a precious gift.
I am amazed and happy for you that you could sit down and craft, do it while you can, and get as much sleep as you can while you still can. Oh, I just remembered that one of my cousins who had twins for her 2nd pregnancy told me that unlike her first baby the twins hardly ever cried to wake her up, when she woke up she would find them awake and "playing" with each other.
God bless you all. Family is a beautiful thing.

Great card. Love the twine and hardware.

Soooo happy the boys are together now :) Have heard countless stories on how twins thrive when they are together. Glad to hear they are doing some air breathing and eating on their own too! Prayers are with you all :)

Congratulations! Prayers are with your whole family. I'm not sure how little the boys were, but our twin grandsons were a month early and had to be in NICU until they got bigger and stronger. Hang in there, they'll soon be home! Take the time to get stronger yourself.

P.S. Sorry - forgot to say I love your card!

Hi Julee,
I am sorry I have only just read the news of your special babies. This is wonderful news and although they have had a tough start to their little lives, it sounds as if they are strong and fighting hard. I hope you are feeling stronger yourself now and are taking good care of yourself too.
Your sons are absolutely gorgeous and you and daddy must be so very proud (you definitely look it in the photos!).
I would love to send you a card for the little ones please can you tell me, should I use the address you gave on your blog the other day? I am not sure how long it takes to get cards to the USA from the UK, but I just want to ensure you get it. I don't want it to arrive after you have taken the boys home (soon God willing!).
I will pray for you all. Take care of yourselves.
Regards and best wishes Linda (Wales, UK)

a little encouragement for you. my twins are now 17 about to turn 18 in may. they were 2 months premature. in nicu for 6 weeks. in the begining they said 3 months in nciu then the step down unit before home but once they were able to be together in one crib the feeding tubes came out. they really started to thrive. answered prayers from friends and family really helped us get through. I will be praying. both twins are healty and happy. son plays football daughter plays field hockey and lacrosse. she had breathing problems until she was about 12 but God is good.
