Blog Candy Blog Hop

Happy Saturday friends!  A few of my crafty peeps were chatting about all the excess stuff we have in our studios so we decided to have a little blog hop and give away some of our treasures to new homes.  Here's the scoop...

Hop around to the blogs below and if the loot makes your eyes all shiny with possibilities, leave a little comment on that post for a chance to win what you spy!  The hop will stay open until January 28th, 5PM ET and each of us will post the winner of our individual blog candies on Monday, January 30th!

Julee  {you're HERE!}

For my loot pile, I just started stuffing things into a Flat Rate Priority Box until it was full, so it's kind of random. {grin}  Most everything is new or only used once.

Please note:  Due to the weight of this package and cost of international shipping, my blog candy is only open to those who have a US shipping address.  Apologies to all my international friends!

Here's a partial list of what's included:
  • 9 - assorted 6x6 paper pads from Lily Bee Design, KaiserCraft and Stampin' Up!
  • 6 Hero Hues Chalk ink pads (most are still in the shrink wrap)
  • 11 VersaMagic chalk ink pads (used once, if at all)
  • Several darling unmounted rubber images from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps
  • Some random clear stamp sets from Gelatins, Flourishes and Inkadinkado
  • Several new packages of primas and paper flowers
  • Cuttlebug Fleur de Lis embossing folder (new)
  • Spellbinders Fleur de lis accents (new)
  • various bling, pearls, decorative brads and divine twine samples
And just so there's a little something stampy to share with you, here's a re-run of a card I made last year with my own copy of the Fleur de Lis Accents Spellbinders and the Fleur de Lis Cuttlebug folder (which are both part of the blog candy loot pile)!

Enabler's List:
Stamps: Kindred Spirits (Verve)
Paper: Cream, Black
Ink: Onyx Black (Versafine)
Accessories: 3D Flowers Die (Sizzix), Fleur De Lis Accents, Fleur De Lis Squares (Spellbinders), Platinum Liquid Pearls (Ranger), Fleur de Lis embossing folder (Cuttlebug), felt (TCP, silver skeleton leaves (Pizzazz Aplenty)

So, I'm sure you know the drill... leave a comment for a chance to win.  If you want something to chat about, I could use a little advice.  We need to register soon for our baby shower and I'm feeling a little bit overwhelmed at the thought of it, since neither of us have ever been around babies much.  Just wondering for those of you with more experience than us in the baby department, what things are must haves?

Love the card and so nice of you to be offering your blog candy! As for baby things.... baby monitor, baby carrier (so your hands are free to do other stuff), backpack for a baby diaper bag (easy to carry and gender neutral) are just some ideas. Thanks for the chance to win some great stuff.

I will take those Spellbinders off your hands Julee!!! Or that beautiful card, both or should I say ALL will make me very happy!!!

You have a wonderful blog and a big thank you for offering such a great giveaway.

I'm drooling over all the Prima, that's love right there, thank you all so much for the chance to win all these scrappy yummies.

Babies need bottles, even if you are nursing you may want to bottle it sometimes(just a thought), diapers are very expensive so if you get some at your shower it gives you a head start, a good infant seat with the little bumper guards so the baby's head is safe from moving around to much, a first aid kit is a must, and things like thermometers, the little nose suction thing are good to have too for the little things. Oh my gosh there really is so much more but I know many ladies will give you some of the others too I could go on and on with this list.

What a fun set of goodies!

As far as baby advice - the best thing we received with baby #2 was a Diaper Geni. It certainly was much nicer than having to smell used diapers (we didn't have one with #1).

Also, if you are nursing, I loved my nursing cape, I picked it up at Target. I affectionately named it my Super Mom cape. It was so nice knowing that it wasn't going to drop off (like the blanket that I used with #1) at an inopportune time.

Oh, and for the few times I used my Bjorn baby carrier, they are worth the money. Both my kids went through a stage when they wanted to be held and not put down. This way I could keep them with me and try to tackle the house. I didn't have a sling, but I always wanted to try one. Congratulations!

Your card is stunning and elegant! And your giveaway is stunning, too! I've never had a baby either so my advice to just enjoy every moment, even the sleepless nights. My mom, and other older women in my family, look back at those times as the best years of their lives. Congratulations!

Denisse said...

Your card is so pretty! and those spellbinders are calling my name! Thanks for the opportunity!

Fabulous cards and purge pile! So many goodies. Enough for several winners at least. Thanks for sharing....

Wow! Thanks for a chance to win your goodies! And the one thing that I probably would never have thought to buy for baby... but was given to me by my mom... and was super awesome was a Bumbo Seat. It lets a baby who isn't quite sitting on his/her own yet, sit up in the seat. It's so convenient if you have housework to do or when you're making dinner. I loved mine!

Shirley B said...

Wow what a lovely give away. The spellbinder dies look very enticing. No kids so no advise on showers.

a Tiffany original said...

Oh I love the card you made! That is lovely! Baby showers are fun, but I noticed that it is best to register for large ticket specialty items (i.e. a swing, stroller, bassinet, car seat) as those are specific. Most people based upon what you are having give the most darling clothes. :) Good Luck on your new adventure!!

Cyndy said...

Stamps, paper, and flowers, oh my! Well I am a stamp-a-holic, a collector of all things paper, and being born in the spring I love flowers, so your purge candy is a dream come true. Being a grandmother of nine I think the very best "baby gift" is a rocking chair. A lot of bonding happens in that chair that will last a lifetime.

Crestajune said...

Thank you for your generosity. This is one of my all-time favorite cards! Have a beautiful day!

thanks so much for the chance to win! as far as what you need, lots of diapers, congrats!!

Lovely card. Thanks for sharing.

As for baby things, a swing is a must have. I had one with all 3 of my boys and then we had 2 for my twin grand-daughters. I used to always say if it wasn't for having one when my oldest was born (he's 22 now) that I would've probably gone insane by the time he was 2 weeks old. A double stroller is a must too. We have 2 of the ones that are behind each other and it is easier to fit into doorways although I do often call it "the bus" because they are so big. Best wishes.

Carolyn
P.S. Great idea, giving away stuff to make room for more!

Danielle said...

i love the all the texture in your card. Very elegant! I can't believe all the ink you are giving away! I would be in stampers heaven! Thanks for the chance to win!

Elizabeth Terry said...

First off...beautiful card!! I'm a lover of anything and all Fleur de Lys (you should see my house).

What a fun giveaway you're doing..i need to do the same..my eye is on those Hero Hues stamp pads..i still have so many CTMH ones in shrink wrap, i've not been able to justify buying any others!!

Robin Cooper said...

The Spellbinders caught my eye first! But there is so much good stuff there. Thanks for the opportunity to win. Regarding baby stuff, my DIL had one of those wipes warmers and stopped using it after 5 months. It's one of those things that sounds good in theory, but in reality the benefits lost their appeal.

Andrea said...

Wow what a great "loot" pile! Your card is beautiful as usual!

My number one suggestions for babies is Sleep-sacks! We used them with both kids and loved them. Think blanket that they can sleep in without them being able to kick off the blanket! Although i recommend the sleeveless kind so that they still have jammies on underneath.

tblue said...

Love your blog and wonderful creations. I can't help with the baby suggestions...I'm way past that point in life. lol Thanks for the opportunity to win!

Beautiful card! I love the color combo of the light blue with the black and white. Perfect amount of each color too.

Onesies, wipes and diapers are used the most!!! I loved my stroller system w/car seat - similar to this one http://www.walmart.com/ip/Graco-Spree-Travel-System-Ashford/14707373

And, a little umbrella stroller like the one below is great for quick trips and small places http://www.walmart.com/ip/Jeep-Wrangler-Sport-All-Weather-Umbrella-Stroller-Turq-Glow/16439811

What a fun idea for a giveaway and I love that sampler card you made! Register for lots and lots of onsies, burp cloths, lotions, etc because you will go through that like crazy! You'll also get more "cute" clothes than the boys will ever have a chance to wear before they grow out of them, lol! Have fun!!

Jana said...

Well a Big congrats to you! Most of these have been mentioned, but yes, a baby swing, diapers, burp cloths, crib sheets and a car seat. Best wishes to you.

Well, first time blogging, but had to tell you, my hubby made me clean out my inbox. It had 14 pages full of your card designs, I just could not erase. So, I made a folder and put them in there. He is happy now, because he cant see them, and I still have them. Thank you for the great ideas!

Wow what a stash.... you really must mave been saving up. Also I love the card you made with the teal and black it is stunning.

Michelle Quinno said...

Wow, this is some yummy candy!! Love your beautiful card!

I would get a Bumpo Nursing pillow. My granddaughter had one and it was an arm saver! Even if you don't nurse, it supports your arm while holding the baby.

Debbi said...

Ink pads.....that caught my eye. I'm always afraid to buy different colored inks thinking I won't use it enough. Then I get home and could kick myself because I was doing a project that could use that color. Love your card.

Lisa T said...

Ah! I had spotted my favorite before I even scrolled down through the whole picture. I would *love* the Spellbinders dies. I use my Nesties/Spellbinders dies more and more. They give cards the extra "something" yet don't add bulk like flowers, ribbon, etc. I love them!

Luana said...

They eye catcher for me is...the flowers. Another of my favorite things. I think I've said something is my favorite on each of the blogs....I sat back and thought about it and have concluded that... I HAVE A PROBLEM!!! Hi, I'm Luana and I am a craft addict!!! (tee hee hee)

Heidi said...

I spy spellbinders and yummy little bling candy for cards... so yummy.

As for baby- I think that all the big ticket items are a must- they are so costly. A good teething ring, LOL, yeah my kids needed those. I would say to register for the bouncy seats, some clothes but most will pick what they want anywyas and you will need to return many anyways.

Vicky said...

Boy what a great package. It is hard to pick a favorite. I like the papers & ink pads. I don't have any chalk ink pads. So that is what I think would be my favorite.

First let me congratulate you and Mark on the exciting soon-to-be additions to your family! I hope you'll post daily pictures on your blog... I'm so thrilled for you both! As for the blog candy, it's fabulous too! I spotted the Spellbinders fleur de lis right away but it is all yummy! Thanks, Julee, for the chance to win.

Julee! Your cards are SO SOPHISTICATED and ELEGANT! I LOVE it! Did you us e felt on it? it looks like it! OMG at your blog candy! Nice goodies! I love the spellbinders and prima flowers! I don't have much dies...so those would be great! *crossing fingers* thanks for the chance to win! Congrats on the new baby! I don't have kids yet but a BIG family and must haves for your baby registry are bottles, diapers, diaper genie, lots and lots of onesies, car seat, that play pen that is also a bassinet and a changing table...I think it is by Graco, receiving blankets (great for spit-up duty) etc. I hope this helps!

Hugs, V

Okay baby things, I would say a few of our favorite things were the breast pump (if you are looking to breast feed a must have!). A bumpo seat, a small bouncy baby seat.

It's a good life!

What a beautiful lot of scrappy candy. Those flowers are gorgeous! I'm afraid I may not be of any help for babies. My baby is 17! I do remember thinking, Oh how could I ever live without a swing. So, my advice would be to make sure to get a swing.

This purge hop was a really great idea!

Love your blolg. Thanks for the chance to win some goodies!

I would say that onsies and diapers are the two things I used the most. Never had enough of either and I had both winter and summer babies...You just can't go wrong. Congrats!

Tammy said...

Julee, what is not to love about your purge pile! The gorgeous flowers, variety of bling, metal accents, etc... WOW!

Now about what to register for... I am mom of 4 children ages 4 to 10, but every mom is different. The first thing I would say is keep your registry items simple--stick with basics. So many of the extra gadgets and multitude of baby toys really aren't necessary and the extra money can be used for diapers.

One item in particular that I never found useful was the diaper genie. They really don't hold many diapers and living in town it was just easier to take stinky diapers and put them in the trash outside.

As for a must have item--the car seat covers if you live in a cold area and the babies will be in infant seats during cold weather. When you use the car seat covers and some blankets tucked around the babies you don't have to bundle them in lots of winter weather clothing that makes the car seats less safe.

Blessings on this wonderful time in your lives! Enjoy each moment, it does go quickly!

Diapers, diapers, diapers!!!!!! I believe you should not forget yourself. Add to your list some bubble bath, pjs and maybe a couple new cos for those long nights. A journal to put down your feelings and emotions cause lets face it there will be a lot of time when your alone and have no one thats awake to talk to! As for the baby, did I mention diapers? A really great strolled with a storage basket. Also a nice diaper bag since you'll always be carrying it around. My only other advise is put together some freezer meals ahead of time so you have more time to make all those beautiful cards!

Sheila Davis said...

It all looks so great but I guess the flowers jump out at me the most...they're so pretty. Thanks so much for the chance to win and for being such an inspiration to us all.

What a lovely idea to share your destash - thank you! And congratulations on the baby! It's been a while since I had mine, but something I WISH they'd had back in the day are the ultra-soft minkee/minky blankets. LOVE them!

I'd love to win your collection because I've never worked with chalk stamps - what a great way to try them out!

Thanks again, and good luck to all!
