Soaring

Hi everyone!  It's Monday again and time for another Mojo Monday sketch!  If you follow my blog, you might recognize this week's sketch as the layout of my CASE study challenge card last Thursday.  I just loved how easily the layout came together and knew I wouldn't mind giving it another go!  There are some layouts that are like that - they just never get old.

Anyhow, it's the first Monday of the month, so that means it's CONTEST time over at Mojo Monday!  Play along for your chance to win some Verve!  Deadline is Sunday, April 10 and you can enter as many times as you like.  Hope you have fun!

Well, I certainly had fun with this shabby chic little number!  The stamps and dies are all  from The Cat's Pajamas.  Many of you know Alma as this swanky, cool, comic style illustrator, but occasionally she also designs elegant images that completely make my heart sing!  Sets like Elegant Christmas, Love Letters and the brand new The Tweetest Things (which I used here on this card) are a few of my all-time favorites.  I just think she's an amazing artist and totally want to be like her when I grow up!  {grin}

I started by running the Home Tweet Home CutUps die through my machine with Paper Thin Wood Veneer.  The dies are just slightly smaller than the stamps in the coordinating The Tweetest Things stamp set, making it a breeze to just cut and then stamp the die cut for perfect alignment every time.  I did this here with the bird image, which was also cut from the Paper Thin Wood Veneer, then stamped in Tumbled Glass for a soft bluebird look.

The music banner image is stamped in Vintage Photo and then hand trimmed.  I used the same image to lightly stamp on the script patterned paper.  I embossed the wood oval and the soft sky background with the Tim Holtz Music Sheet textured impressions folder and added some distressed edges and vintage photo sponging for an aged effect.  The sentiment is also from The Tweetest Things and is stamped on a wood cut out from the Easy Rosettes CutUps.  I hand cut a mat for it, then added some shabby wrinkled ribbon, a fabulous trinket pin from Miss Vio's Handmade, a flower and a bunch of chunky clear glass glitter accents.

Enabler's List:
Stamps:  The Tweetest Things (TCP)
Paper: Conservatory (7 Gypsies), Soft Sky, Early Espresso (SU!), Paper Thin Wood Veneer, Natural White CS (TCP)
Ink: Vintage Photo, Tumbled Glass (Ranger Distress)
Accessories: Apron Border, Easy Rosettes, Home Tweet Home (CutUps by TCP), frosted lace stickles (Ranger), Holiday Glitzy (TCP), Mint Berry Trinket Pins (Miss Vio's Handmade on Etsy), shabby wrinkled ribbon (Bluebird Lane on Etsy), Music Sheet Textured Impressions (Tim Holtz), Corner Chomper (WRMK), 10mm Open Roses (Pizzazz Aplenty), Beaded Ovals, Classic Ovals Nestabilities (Spellbinders)

This card is an amazing piece of art. I was automatical drawn to the color combination that was coupled with the Shabby Chic theme. The variety of elements and layers were beautifully pulled together. I want to keep looking at this card, and I want to make one like it as well. Thank you for sharing it.
