Stella Ruby Box

So are y'all sick of seeing Stella Ruby yet? I hope not, because I still have a lot more in my pack! LOL! I went to Wal-Mart today to look for these boxes Cindy Lou Who uses for storing her Karen Foster Snap stamps. When I got there and saw they were only 97 cents, I had to buy every last one they had! LOL! The boxes are brown paper mache and are just shy of 5 x 5 inches square. I immediately knew I had to alter at least one of them as a gift box.
There's not much stamping on this box, but there was a whole lot of punching going on tonight. The punches used are the 3/4" and 1" circles (and an intermediate cut with my Creative Memories cutting system), the small and large oval punches, the small and large tag punches, the EK success photo corner punch, the crop-a-dile and my new Cuttlebug flower die.

To begin I painted the lid of the box with Making Memories yellow scrapbook paint. (It was the only color I had that went with the paper, but I didn't like it so I painted over it with L'il Davis Strawberry glitter glaze. I didn't realize it would make it so pink! LOL Oh well. I used my Xyron machine to cover the sides and to lay down the Chocolate Chip and Basic Grey Stella Ruby squares on the top of the box. I used sticky strip around the entire box lid to glue down some Choclate grosgrain ribbon and then used my Crop-a-Dile to punch holes along the edges of the box to attach flowers (both Bazzill Blossoms and Cuttlebug dies) with black brads.

I made the flower with 10 sets of small and large oval punches, and three sizes of circles for the flower center. I put the 3/4" circle through the xyron upside down and sparkled up with some Flax glitter. I raised it on a pop dot and used my gold gel pen to dot all around the edges. For the tag, I stamped just the Hello Friend part of the Hello Chick by Stampendous in Whisper White craft ink and then traced over it with my white gel pen. Finished off with some brown organdy ribbon
