Shiny and New

Hi friends!  It's time for Day 2 of Verve's Spotlight Hops and today the Divas are shining their spotlights on two new sets... For my preview, I chose to use the new Shining Star set and the Starry Die.  My One Little Word for 2013 is SHINE, so I just had to design a new set with some shining sentiments!  {grin}

I made a couple of simple cards featuring two of the sentiment stamps in the set.  Same layout (just flipped) for both.  The sentiments are stamped onto some map paper that is toned down a bit with some watered down gesso so the ink would show up better.  I used one of the dies in the new Scalloped Trim Trio Die Set along the sentiment panel, then tied a bow of hemptique silver crafting cord around the panel, added a second bow and accented with a wood veneer star which I painted with liquid pearls and sprinkled glitter on.

The starry die is one die that cuts all of the stars at once.  Since it's a stand-alone die, it doesn't have alignment holes, so it's perfect for using the negative of the die cut in fun ways.  Here I cut the die from Sahara Sand, then crimped with my paper crimper and layered over some polka dot paper.  Simple, but striking and perfect for a masculine or feminine recipient.
