Birthday Treasure

Hi friends!  Happy Thursday... this week has just flown by for me.  My little guys have RSV again, so we've been busy with breathing treatments every 4 hours for each of them and no more than 3 hours of sleep at a time for the past 5 days.  As Mark said this morning, we're too old for this!!!  LOL  The sleep deprivation has brought my migraines back full force, so it's been a doozie of a week so far.

Anyhow, I do have this card to share that I made during a little free time last week.  It uses the Park Bench paper collection again.  Mark took me to Archiver's for my Easter basket this year and I picked out 3 or 4 new paper collections and this was one of them.  I've been trying to cut back on my craft spending, so my goal is to actually USE the paper I buy!  LOL  I think I've made 6 cards with this pack now, so that's pretty good, right?  {grin}

The stamps are from the Treasured Words set (30% off right now!) and the little stitch marks on the yellow circle are from the Borderline set.  I used the Pennant Trim Die as a border, then added some liquid pearls.  I'm really loving the look of black pearls on black card stock right now.  I roughed up the edges of everything with a paper distresser, then finished off with a polka dot bow.

That's all on the card front.  Be sure to head on over to the Verve blog for another segment in our April Diva Dare series.  And if you've been waiting on an out of stock set from Verve, check out the Verve website for 20% off our newly re-stocked stamp sets!

Thinking of You

Hi friends!  I haven't had much time in the studio lately, so I thought I'd pop in and share a card I made a few weeks back but never posted.  It was actually for Amy's August Week 4 CAS Viva la Verve sketch.  But my card ended up mixed-media and anything but CAS!  So I held onto it, thinking maybe I'd have a chance to make a real CAS card, and then in a flash, three weeks went by!

Okay, now let's see if I can remember anything about how I made this card! {grin} I do know it was another one of those use up scraps on my desk kind of cards. I recently purchased some Enamel Accents to try out. They're kind of like liquid pearls, only glossy and not as puffy. I had a lot of fun dabbing them all over the place like paint. I did use some craft paint to paint a layer over the designer paper, then stamped the rectangle frame from Treasured Words onto it in archival ink. The scallops are hand doodled on with a permanent marker and then I added a couple layers of the white enamel accents to fill in the scallops. The sentiment is also from Treasured Words.

The flower is made using the Pointed Flowers Die.  I simply cut 3 sets of both dies out of designer paper, then lined them up, with the largest on the bottoms, pierced a hole through them, added a brad to hold them together, then spritzed with water and crumpled up.  Then when they dried, I fluffed them up a bit and added some accents with the enamel paint.  The leaf is cut using the Dreamy Leaves Die Set and I just added glue and prisma glitter to make it super glitzy.  I added some fun scraps of book paper, burlap and a bow that didn't get used on a previous project.  The tab is a Tim Holtz die and I finished off by clipping on an Arrow Die cut with a mini library clip.

So that's the story, morning glory! Our little family is headed to the doc today for the boys' 6 month check-up and vaccinations.  So that means we have a fun weekend of baby soothing in store!  Hope your weekend is fabulous.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Bundle of Joy - AVS Hop Day 9

Hi friends!  Happy Friday.  It's the final day of our Anni-VERVE-sary Spotlight Hops, which means our release party is tonight!  Come join us from 7-9pm Eastern!  The final set the Divas are spotlighting is a request from Jen del Muro for a set with all occasion sentiments using the fonts from Words of Wisdom.  It's called Treasured Words and well, I'll just let the Divas show you what it's all about!

My card is another CASS card.  It was totally CAS and then I had to add some liquid pearls... and embossing ... and ribbon and pretty soon it was still clean but only {sort of} simple! {grin}  It's so hard not to pile on all the fabulous embellishments that are just calling my name!  LOL  Anyhow, my idea for the card was mainly to just have fun playing around with the new dies.  I wanted to try the Arrow Die as an inner mat for the Pennant Trim Die.  It worked beautifully.  I just layered the arrows over the pennants, snipped off the ends and then used the leftover part of the arrows for an accent on the card.  How cute is that?  I cut the pennant trim down to just 6 pennants and then layered the Flourished Trim Die over it and added a bunch of silver liquid pearls to my die cuts.

The image and sentiment are both from the Treasured Words set.  The baby carriage is colored with Copics and punched out with 1-1/4" and 1-3/8" ircle punches, then layered onto Scalloped Flowers die cuts.  I finished off by embossing the polka dots on the card base and then adding a pool party seam binding bow up top.

I'm getting so EXCITED for tonight!  We'll be revealing all the sets in their full glory at our Release Party from 9-11PM Eastern. While you wait, you can take one last stroll through sneak peek land. Thanks so much for joining in our 5th Anni-VERVE-sary celebration the past couple weeks!

Happiness

Hi friends! Happy Tuesday.  It's Day 2 of our Release Challenges over in the Verve forum and Maureen and Andrea are challenging us to make an anniversary card with wood or silver elements.  I knew I wanted to go a bit more masculine than the traditional anniversary card, so I picked a color palette of green, black and kraft.

This sentiment sums up how I feel about my DH and it's a sneak peek of the new Treasured Words set.  I've cut it out with the Rounded Rectangle Die and layered it onto the Rounded Scallop Frame Die, stamped with the coordinating stamp from Making a Statement.  I gave the background of the card a wood effect by randomly stamping the new Thatched Banner Plain Jane in Crumb Cake all over the Kraft cardstock.  For embellishments I chose some silver jumbo eyelets that have been collecting dust in the closet, some black twill and a Tim Holtz metal embellishment I picked up super cheap on a recent trip to Tuesday Morning.

That's all for today!  Come on back tomorrow to see another sneak peek and the challenge I'm hosting with Laurie!  Have a great day!

Wishes

Hi friends!  It's Monday again (already???) and time for a new Mojo Monday sketch.  This week's sketch is another one from Carole, who's been taking the summer off.  My sample has a few little sneak peeks of stamps and dies releasing from Verve on August 24.

Since we're gearing up for a big Verve release, the Divas are kicking things off a little early with a week of challenges in our SCS forum.  My card for today also doubles for a sample in Teresa & Amber's color challenge of pink, green and brown.  There will be a random winner for each challenge, as well as a grand prize drawing from everyone who completes all five challenges.  The grand prize is our entire new release (over $300 of stamps and dies!!!) Woohoo!!!  Click here for the details.

The sentiment, mini label image, and the border of presents are from the new Borderline set, and yes that's a matching Mini Classy Label die set.  The party hat is from a set called Treasured Words and the green pennant is stamped with the Thatched Banner plain jane that coordinates with the Ribbon Banner Die we released earlier this year.  The little flourished border is the negative from the new Flourished Trim die and I finished off with Stickles, glossy accents, liquid pearls, rhinestones and lots of ribbon.

I've got a full week ahead of me but no nanny today, so my work week officially starts tomorrow.  Hope you have a fantastic start to your week!  Look for a lot more from me this week as all the Anni-VERVE-sary festivities kick off!
