Blooming Birthday

Hi crafty friends! Today I have another mixed media take on the Not 2 Shabby January Box of the Month. I just love these papers and images!

One way to take your patterned paper to the next level is to add to it. Here I took the Soft Blue Florals abstract design paper and added some watered down gesso, a bit of splatters and some faded grey stamping with one of the stamps from the Inside Birthday Greetings stamp set. This subtle background lets the flower paper in the circle really stand out. Keeping all the colors muted really highlights the vibrant Copic colored flowers from the Fresh Blooms stamp set.

I finished off with some light inking around the edges with antique linen ink and a sentiment from the Blooming Sentiments stamp set. Oh, and don't forget those magical sparkling enamel dots!
