Folk Art Flowers and TCP Tuesday Reminder

Hi friends! It's time for your friendly reminder about this month's TCP Tuesday Challenge. We're celebrating summer and want to see your summer inspired cards. Come play along for a chance to win a $50 Cat Cash Voucher to the TCP store. Deadline is June 30. All the details and linkup can be found on the TCP Blog.

Summer at my house is red, white, and blue. I'm an all American girl and just love decorating with these colors. When I first saw the Folk Art Flowers set, I knew I wanted to build a folk art design, and red, white and blue seemed like the perfect palette to do it in.

I started by creating a folk art design on white cardstock. Folk art designs usually have monochromatic shades of two or three contrasting colors and are pretty symmetrical in design. I just played around with the stamps and distress oxides until I had a fun little scene. I have so many more ideas for this set! The panel is cut with the circle from the Spring Tree Duo die. To create the frame border, I layered the circle from the circle from the Round Bubbles Duo inside the Spring Tree Duo Circle and cut from navy cardstock. I cut the frame a few times, to layer together for thickness.

Next I pulled out the coordinating Folklore Flowers die set and cut one of the flower images, then stamped inside it and layered behind the circle, tucking one of the curlycues up front for some interest.

The sentiment is masked off to split between the upper and lower portions of the card. I added some stamped accents beside them, then found a strip of patterned paper to set things off and glued it all together.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! We hope you'll play along in our challenge. And don't forget to pop over to the TCP Blog today for more inspiration from the Cat Pack.
