Mojo Monday 509

Hi friends! Are you ready for a new Mojo Monday sketch? I have so much fun seeing what everyone creates with the sketches. Thanks to all who play along!

As always, you're free to play along with any papercrafting products your heart desires. Use the sketch as inspiration for your creation, then come link it up below so I can come take a look! The linky for this challenge will close on February 24, 2019. I've included measurements on the sketch graphic later in this post for those who like to have them.  Feel free to drop any of the elements if you like, as well. I just love to see your creations!

Today's sketch I created from this card I made with the new Sweet 'n Sassy stamp of the month, Made New. I often get questions about how to use my sketches in a CAS style. It's no secret that I love layers, and my sketches often have lots of them! But all your layers don't have to be paper. 😉 Aside from the word blocks, and paper pieced butterfly the artwork on this card is all one layer.

I started by doing a wash of watercolor with Well Blue Be Down and Deep Blue Sea sprays from Shimmerz. When that was how I liked it, I splattered a little bit of Burnished Buckle Inklingz and some white India ink, then partially stamped the script text from the Texture Tiles 1 stamp set in grey. I then stamped the butterfly and the verse from Made New on the panel in black ink.  I tried embossing only with a stitched circle die around the verse, but it didn't have the oomph I wanted, so I traced around the embossing with a stabilo marks all pencil. I also added a little grounding for the butterfly, then blended the pencil out with a water brush.

I had previously colored the butterfly image with Copics and hand trimmed, so I just glued it on, popping up just the outer wing for a bit of dimension. Next I embossed the change and transform words in white on black cardstock and trimmed them out. I placed them on the panel and traced around them with the stabilo pencil again and blended it out, then offset the sentiments when I adhered them to the card. My finishing touches were some silver saucers holeless sequins (love these shiny little things!) and some distressed edges.

Okay, now it's your turn. Here's the Mojo Monday 509 sketch and linkup...

Hi Julee! I used to do your sketches weekly but then life got in the way and I got off track ... well I'm subscribed once again (so I don't miss anything) and hoping to once again play along with your fabulous sketches. I'll be back with a creation using this fun sketch! Thanks!

Gorgeous, Julie! At first glance no one would know it's basicly a one layer card!

What a gorgeous card using the sketch, Julee, and I love how you've used the "color and script" as the one "layer" in the sketch. Thanks for sharing that and giving me more ideas for sketches. I always struggle with them, and yet I LOVE your cards...all of them! Hehe! This is such a gorgeous card with the butterfly and the beautiful Scripture verse that is so true. We are transformed and changed into the image of Christ...more and more. Warm hugs and love! xoxo
