October Keeping Christmas Blog Hop

Hi friends! It's the 25th of the month and that means it's time to join my crafty friends once again to share their inspiring Christmas projects on our Keeping Christmas Blog Hop. If you're just popping in, the hop starts over on Kelly's blog. If you came from Claire's blog, then you've found your way to the next stop! 😊

I can't believe how quickly this year is flying by. Christmas is now only 2 months away! Eep! For my cards today I'm sneaking a peek at some new stamps from The Cat's Pajamas that release on  Tuesday, 10/30. I'm guesting with them during Sneaky Peek Week! 😊

First up is this shabby beauty using a beautiful die from Poppy Stamps that will be available in the TCP store soon. Isn't that scene just so serene? I just had to jazz it all up in glitter and pair it with the Prima Santa Baby collection for a shabby Christmas card. I've been creating a lot of Christmas cards as DT work for a while now and it's only October, so I'm definitely feeling the need to throw in some pink and flowers every now and then to keep myself inspired! Haha!

I cut the  die from white glitter paper, then traced around it on patterned paper and fussy cut a solid shape to layer behind. Next I pulled out a waterbrush and some distress inks in gathered twigs and worn lipstick to watercolor the image. In hindsight I would have done this with a scrap die cut, then layered the pristine glittery one over the top. But you live and learn, and those extra little bits of paint give it that handmade charm, right?

The sentiment is from the soon to be released Cosmic Christmas set, embossed in white. I sponged behind it with a bit of tattered rose distress ink and then around the edges of my papers with both tattered rose and worn lipstick. I added a few worn lipstick accents with a waterbrush to the roses on the paper, then splattered some white acrylic paint over the two panels. I finished off with some of my go to shabby embellishments... lace, flowers, pearls, seam binding and jingle bells!

Since I'm trying to use up as much designer paper as I can when I cut into a new pad, I made a very similar card, with a some leftover pieces. The cup stamp in this set has some notches that make for easy masking, so you can swap out the whip cream topper if you want. Here I've done that, adding the straw image and then decorating the cup with some of the snowflake images from the set.  The sentiments are stamped directly on the card.

For my second card, I decided to make a sweet little shaker card using this adorable penguin image from the North Pole or Bust set. I cut the wreath frame from two circle dies and layered a bit of acetate behind it. Poured in a bit of this and a bit of that from sequin mixes in my stash, then sealed it up. I then colored the penguin image with Copic markers and fussy cut, accenting a bit with some stardust stickles.

To embellish the wreath I cut glitter paper diecuts with the new 5 Snowflake Dies. Then I accented them with Santa Baby Say it In Crystals. A bit of lace trim found in a bag of odds and ends at Goodwill was the perfect length and color to layer around the wreath. I finished off with some black seam binding and a paper flower. The card base is embossed with a snowflake embossing folder and I added a few rounded corners for interest.

Hope these sweet little makes have inspired you to get a head start on some of that holiday crafting. For more eye candy and inspiration, head on over to the next stop on the hop... Kim Heggins!
