The Best Ship

Happy Friday, friends!  As always, I'm super excited for the weekend.  Nothing much planned other than checking in on the progress on our house and making samples for the new Verve release that's only a week away!  Should be a fun, relaxing weekend.  But right now, it's Friday and that means it's time for a new Viva la Verve! sketch.  Amy Sheffer is kicking the November sketches off with a super fun layout and I couldn't wait to play along!

The other day as I was wandering aimlessly through the craft store these Picadilly papers from BasicGrey just took a flying leap into my basket.  BasicGrey was my gateway into designer papers, but I haven't really fallen in love with any of their designs lately.... until this line.  I just adore the color palette of aqua, orange, yellow, red, green and lots of floral prints.  Beautiful stuff, I tell you.

So my colors were inspired by my two favorite papers in the Picadilly pad, which I paired with a greyish/white pattern from the Basicgrey White Basics line.  For the trio of circles, I immediately thought of the Text Objects set, which allowed me to use a small image, a larger sentiment, a sentiment flag and a background.  So matchy-matchy it makes me smile!  The background sentiment strip is stamped in Pumice Stone distress ink and the rest of the sentiments and images were stamped with Early Espresso ink.  I paper pieced the ship, adding a little dimension to the orange sail, then accented with a mixture of diamond glaze and glitter for a little sparkle.  A border punch, some photo corner punches, a library clip and a bunch of orange bling from Pizzazz Aplenty finished things off.

Q & A Time:
Someone asked what punchinella was on one of my recent mixed-media posts.  Punchinella is also called sequin waste, and it's the left over part in the sequin making process.  It makes a great inexpensive stencil for adding dots to your mixed media projects and comes in all shapes and sizes.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and if you find a little time to create, be sure to give the VLV sketch a try.  One lucky winner who participates in all 4 of the November sketches will win a $100 gift certificate to Verve!

Enabler's List:
Stamps:  Text Objects (Verve Stamps)
Paper: Picadilly, White Basics (BasicGrey), Early Espresso (SU!), Bundled Sage (Tim Holtz)
Ink: Wild Honey, Pumice Stone, Tumbled Glass (Ranger Distress), Early Espresso (SU!)
Accessories:  Classic Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Bracket border punch, mini photo corner punch (EK Success), mini library clip (SU!), orange flatback rhinestones (Pizzazz Aplenty), glitter, diamond glaze, dimensionals, clear embossing powder
