Shoot for the Moon

Hi friends! I had the pleasure of doing another Product Focus for Splitcoaststampers this month, featuring the 12 new colors of Dyestress Blendable Inks from Clearsnap. You can read the entire Product Focus here. And if you missed it last fall, here's the post where I reviewed the original 12 colors.

While I absolutely adored playing with these inks the first time around, these 12 new colors for 2019 just opened a whole new world of possibilities. In my opinion, the original lineup lacked a true red and yellow, as well as any kind of turquoise, which felt limiting to me (the queen of all things aqua!) and I didn't reach for the inks much beyond the initial review. Well, that all changed with the addition of the missing colors and so many more varying shades to complement the original line. The inchworm is one of the prettiest greens I've seen. I'm now completely hooked on these water reactive blendable inks and you'll definitely be seeing them a lot from me. I even have dedicated a new set of ink daubers to each color, so they're on my desk to stay! {grin}

For today's card I decided to make a galaxy card using the new colors.  I started out with smooth Bristol paper, then daubed on my lighter reds, yellows and greens. Next I filled in with turquoises and purples, and finally pulled it all together with a bit of graphite ink. All in all, I used nine of the twelve new colors on this card - and I love how it turned out. The splatters are done with white and black acrylic inks, as well as some pewter metallic ink. Love that shimmer.

Once my galaxy was created, I started work on my stamping. I masked off the tree part of PJ's hand from the Cosmic Christmas set, so he could just be a flying astronaut. I colored with Copics and then used a glue gloss pen just on his helmet and embossed it with clear embossing powder for a glassy look.

The sentiment is from the Bunnies in Flight set.  I embossed it onto a circle that I had blended with the Bumblebee ink and then randomly stamped some of the splatters from Watercolor Basics in Graphite to give it a more realistic moon feel. Then it was just a matter of gluing down my elements to finish off the card.
