As soon as I saw the Textured Leaves set I knew I wanted to try the baby wipe technique. I recently watched a YouTube video by Sam at Pootles covering this technique and thought it would be perfect for the leaves in this beautiful set. I folded two baby wipes into quarters to form my "ink pad" and then dropped on distress re-inkers in mustard seed, spiced marmalade, ripe persimmon and squeezed lemonade. Once I had filled the area, I used it to stamp the leaves from this set multiple times on a sheet of cardstock.
I die cut each leaf with the coordinating Textured Leaves Frame Cuts and then sponged first antique linen and then gathered twigs distress oxides around the edges to soften the edges. I just love how they turned out!
For my first card, I decided to make the leaves the base for a glitter rimmed flower, adding in some shabby accents with golden faux pearl string and some sparkly gold ribbon. The sentiment is from the gorgeous September My Monthly Hero kit, stamped in Cup o' Joe ink and embossed in clear onto paper from the Amber Moon Collection. I sponged around the edges with the same colors of distress oxide and finished with a thin shiny gold mat.
My second card is similar in look and feel. I took used some more of the leaves I had stamped and cut, but added in some veins with a gold wink of stella glitter pen. I layered these onto papers from the Amber Moon collection, sponging the edges with distress oxides. Next I layered some pretty lace trim from Hobby Lobby. For sentiment I chose best wishes from the main kit and adhered it with an old hodgepodge hardware label.
