August Keeping Christmas Blog Hop

Hi friends! It's the 25th of the month and that means it's time to join my crafty friends once again to share their inspiring Christmas projects on our Keeping Christmas Blog Hop. If you're just popping in, the hop starts over on Kelly's blog. If you came from Claire's blog, then you've found your way to the next stop! 😊

For this month's hop, I did my ltitle time saving trick of working on two similar but different cards at the same time. All the stamping was done at once, then die cutting, then I moved onto layouts.  I started with the beautiful new Layering Poinsettia Color Layering Bundle from Hero Arts. I stamped the solid poinsettia in light pink (from Kelly's Coffee & Donuts), then the second layer in pale tomato and the third layer in strawberry.  For the leaves, I stamped off on scratch paper with moss and did a second generation impression of the solid leaf, then did the second layer with field greens ink. These are all cut with the coodinating Frame Cuts and then layered together.  I added a little shimmer with some nuvo glitter drops and set them aside.

The sentiments are embossed in gold onto vellum and then cut with dies.  I then made some woodgrain tags using the Tim Holtz Layering Tag Thinlits.  I cut two tags for each tag out of heavy white cardstock.  I embossed one of each size with the 3D Lumber texture fade and then layered onto the other tag for added thickness.  For the large tag, I sponged with hickory smoke and black soot distress oxides. For the smaller tag, I used just the hickory smoke.

Next it was just a matter of picking out patterned paper and adding in accents. I used lace and a gold bow on one, and seam binding, jingle bells and some puffy gold star garland on the other.

Hope this little share has inspired you to get a head start on some of that holiday crafting. For more eye candy and inspiration, head on over to the next stop on the hop... Kim Heggins!
