Birthday Blossoms

Today I'm showing you the card I made for my mom's birthday, which is tomorrow. She's not really into frills, so I tried to keep the layout and embellishments simple. She also loves bright colors, which is a love I simply do not share! LOL So basically, this card really isn't my "style", but I like how it turned out.

I pulled out some Rose Red and Certainly Celery scraps I had from my Stampin Up POP (Palette O Prints) pad and pieced them together to make a background. I then matted on Basic Black and tied a knotted black grosgrain bow around it. Next I stamped the tulips from Bothway Blossoms randomly on Conqueror White Cardstock in Ancient Page Coal Black. I colored the flowers and stems in with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol, adding a little shadow below each of the flowers with a light gray Tombo marker. It then looked a little bare to me, so I stamped the flecks from Itty Bitty Backgrounds in Creamy Caramel on the lower third of the panel. Next I stamped Birthday Wishes from PaperTrey Butterfly Kisses at the top and matted on Basic Black. I adhered it to the background panel with Stampin' Dimensionals and then matted the whole thing on a Certainly Celery card base. The final touch was just a hint of Stardust Stickles on the darker parts of the tulips.

I think it's beautiful! I love frilly stuff, but I do love the clean lines on this card.
