Sunshine in a Cup

Hey friends! I'm back with another coffee card for the Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.

Coffee is definitely one of those sunshine things in my life. Since the twins were born, I've struggled with depression, and back when I still ran Verve one of the things I would do to try to pep myself up each day was work just a little bit on coffee illustrations, sentiments, and cards. It was a bright spot in my day and always made me smile. So as things have gotten a bit crazy in the world lately, I decided to reinstitute this little bright spot in my day. And thus the Sunshine in a Cup DIGI was born.

I've been having so much fun creating with this set!  For today's card, I colored up the large flower in sunflower colors, then added the sentiment on a die cut for the sunflower center.  I then also colored up the sunflower mug and fussy cut.

I thought my flower needed a stem, so I did something I rarely do... sketch on a card.  I'm not a sketcher. I draw on a computer with a mouse, not with a pencil. LOL After I sketched it out roughly, I then colored with Copic markers and sponged the background with peacock feathers, tumbled glass, squeezed lemonade, shabby shutters, and peeled paint distress oxides.

Love this set Julee - just had to pop over and buy it! So relatable with the Home Schooling at the moment! I've missed your artwork since Verve closed its doors. Hope you're coping ok with the twins during this crisis time!

Love that cup and how you colored it, I know this has nothing to do with the card but I just love those scissors!
