Hi friends! I'm popping in today with another couple of cards I made with the July My Monthly Hero Collection. I think I literally squealed when I opened up my DT package and saw this Ice Cream Cling Background add-on. I couldn't wait to color all those sweet little treats! I headed directly to my craft room and these were the first two cards I made.
I colored the Ice Cream Cling Background image with copics in a palette of pink, orange, yellow, green and brown, and then added in some sparkle with a glitter brush pen and the crystal clear lacquer pen for the cherries. After it was finished drying, I cut out a circle around the portion that says melting over you, to make a home for the sentiment I wanted to use... greetings from my happy place! This one's from the July My Monthly Hero Kit, and I'm pretty sure it's going to be making it onto a lot of cards! I LOVE it! Yes, it's true, I love ice cream WAY more than I should and I'm in trouble because a gourmet shop just opened up around the corner from our subdivision. Temptation around every corner, I tell ya! 😆
I couldn't let that portion I had cut go to waste, because I had an idea to go with the melting over you phrase. One of those glorious ideas that actually turned out how I envisioned! Hooray!
I popped the circle cut out up on foam tape on a larger black circle, then set aside to make the background. I pulled out some liquid watercolors for this one and did a fun dripping technique with pink, orange, dandelion and leaf. It's super easy. Just brush on a little water where you want it to drip, then drop some of the watercolor ink onto the water and tilt. It's easiest if you dry in between colors, so things don't continue to drip. When I was finished, I matted the background on a black rectangle for some pop and finished off with a white card base. Super easy... and so much fun!
