Pencils and Such

Hi friends!  Happy Thursday!  I can't believe how fast the week is flying by.  My twins have been really sick the past week, so I haven't had a whole lot of time to get crafty.  Last night my creative side finally rebelled and hit the craft room instead of the bed during the bit of down time I had.  I'm sure I'll regret that later today.  {grin}

I had a list of things I wanted to try as I've been spending quite a bit of time on Pinterest on my iPad while watching the boys.  When I ran across this pencil eraser stamp tutorial I knew I MUST try it out.  Little known fact is I'm a sucker for office supplies. Whenever I see those cute designer pencils I just HAVE to buy them!  So I started with that concept to make a little pencil eraser banner on one of the panels.  After I stamped it with Peeled Paint ink I outlined it with a black pen to give it a bit more definition.  In my internet travels I've also seen a bunch of cards lately with the woodgrain embossing folder (which I'd forgotten I even had until last week) and wood veneer stars (another goody just sitting in the closet collecting dust).  Oh, and washi tape... I've bought so much of it I think I need to put it on every card from here to eternity!

Anyhow, I used all scraps from my pile for this one.  The sentiment is from Amazing Wishes and I embossed it in white on a Floral Circles die cut which was stamped lightly with white mix'd media inx with the largest flower from Hope Blooms.  I then snipped along each petal and curled them up, then swiped the edges with white gesso.  Most of my scraps are distressed with white gesso as well.  The stars are coated with a bit of gesso, black stickles and distress peeled paint stickles.  The border die is a long Tim Holtz one I hadn't tested out yet and the leaves are the Elegant Leaves die cut and I hand sketched in the leaves to match the feel of the card.

The layout is a skewed version of the February Week 1 Viva la Verve! sketch.  It's a new month and there's plenty of time to play along with the sketches for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to Verve Stamps!  Okay, that's all from me for this go round.  Hope you have a fantastic day!

Just love this card, Julee!! The wood grain is lovely and I'm just loving the bits of polka dotted and zigzag black.

I can just picture your eyes sparkling when you find a new technique you want to try out :)

Glad you rebelled and took some "mommy time" - the outcome is amazing!
