Spring Dreams TCP Tuesday

Hi friends! It's time for a new TCP challenge and this month we're challenging you to think spring. I don't know about you, but after this long winter, I am SOOO ready for spring. Bring on the blossoms, twittering birds, and warmer weather! Here are all the challenge deets:

Each month a new challenge is posted on The Cat’s Pajamas blog and Facebook page.
  • To play along, upload your design to the Inlinkz link up on The Cat’s Pajamas blog
  • The Cat’s Pajamas products are NOT required, but we do LOVE to see them!
  • Winner is announced the first Tuesday of the following month and will receive a $50 gift voucher to The Cat's Pajamas store.
Sounds fun, huh? Hope you can play along. Here's my take on the challenge...

It seems I've been making so many clean cards lately, that my hands were itching to go for a distressed, shabby chic card.  I thought the new Spring Tree Duo would be the perfect start, so cut it from watercolor paper and then colored with Copic markers. I layered the colored die cut onto a circle of patterned paper, then added some tissue tape around the edges to help tie in the shabbiness of the background paper from the Cherry Blossoms line by Prima that I chose for my background. Inked everything up with antique linen and vintage photo distress inks, then added a bit more tissue tape and some gesso where needed to make things blend together well.

The lace is from Hobby Lobby and I love the ruffles! I stamped the sentiment from the NEW Year of the Pig set in brown onto a diecut using the Roller CutUps. I cut another roller from brown cardstock, split it in two and matted on either end for a bit more contrast on the lace.  To finish off I shabbied up the edges, applied a bit of glitter glue to the leaves, then added some flower and butterfly sequins from the Spring Confetti Mix, accenting each with some teeny pearls. Such a fun card to make!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! For more inspiration from the TCP kitties, click on over to the Cat Pack links on the sidebar to see what everyone created for the challenge! I hope you find a little time this month to play along!
