Happy Birthday Fishes

Hi friends! Today I'm popping in with another card using the My Monthly Hero kit and add-ons. Do you ever have a card that just doesn't turn out how you imagined? Well that's this one for me. I almost didn't share it because I think my fish looks a bit grungy. In real life he's super shimmery, but in the photographs.... not so much! But I'm keeping it real and sharing the card anyway, because art is learning and testing things out to see what works and what doesn't

I started with the fabulous little Paper Layering Goldfish in Bowl cut from white cardstock, I then watercolored using pink, orange and dandelion liquid watercolors. When that had dried, I added in some pewter glimmer metallic ink to try to capture that silvery glimmery fish have. I then set him aside to work on the rest of the card.

The background is done by smooshing the sea glass and blue water reactive inks from the March My Monthly Hero Kit onto smooth bristol cardstock.  I then cut the panel with the Fish and Bubbles Confetti Die and then again with one of the dies from the Rounded Rectangle Infinity Dies. Next, I cut strips of azalea, papaya and canary cardstock and glued together to place behind the die cut panel. I thought the colors were just a bit too bright, so I ended up adding a layer of vellum between the cardstock and the fish & bubbles panel.  I matted this with adriatic cardstock.

The sentiment is from the main kit and stamped in intense black on vellum and then embossed with clear embossing powder. I cut with the Circle Infinity Dies and then created a frame by taping two dies together and cutting. I stacked a couple frames together for thickness, then coated with Versamark and embossed with white puff embossing powder to finish things off.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a fabulously creative day!
