Today I'm sharing a couple of cards I made with Sweet 'n Stassy Stamps and distress oxides. I've been doing a lot of Copic coloring on my cards of late and felt the need to just smoosh around some inks. Around Christmas I picked up the Inspirational Word Art 1 set and hadn't had a chance to use it. It's part of the 50% off category at SNSS. There are also some wonderful sets in the 20% off category too. But hurry on over, as sets are selling out quickly at these prices.
For this first card, I thought the big things sentiment would pair beautifully with the All About You set. I wanted a little encouragement card for someone who's been feeling overwhelmed by new challenges. I started by stamping the you and the can do this on a white card panel. Then I stamped the big things sentiment from Inspirational Word Art 1 on white cardstock and cut with a circle die, coloring the little sprout with copics and then matting with a scalloped circle.
I felt like the card needed a splashy background, to ground the two sentiments, so I first stamped the graph background from Texture Tiles 1 a couple times in shaded lilac distress oxide ink. Next I added some smooshing with other purples using a piece of acetate and a few squirts of water until I was satisfied. I was super sparing with the water and the inks since the cardstock I chose to stamp on isn't great with water.
I loved how these colors played together so well, that I had to start another card, this time with watercolor paper so I could create a super vibrant smooshed background with lots of ink and water. I chose the sentiment for myself. Do you ever make cards with yourself in mind? Sounds kind of silly, but sometimes I make cards to set on my desk, especially when there's a quote that really hits me. I've been having a really tough time for a while now and thought having this quote on my desk would help inspire me to keep on trucking. 😀
I kept things on the card simple, since I really wanted this sentiment (from the Inspirational Word Art set) to be the star of the show. I embossed it in black on the background and then accented with a few shiny sequins and a couple enamel arrows I found in my stash. I tore one edge for a little interest and then mounted on fun foam on a card base.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a fabulous start to your week.
