Christmas in the Village

Hi friends!  The other day I was wandering through Tuesday Morning and happened across a BoBunny Christmas in the Village paper pad. As I've recently been undergoing a multi-stage mini disaster cleanup in my craft studio, I knew that I needed another pad of Christmas paper about as much as I need more spam in my inbox. Haha! But this pad is different... it has yellow in it! This pretty pine cone paper clinched it... I just couldn't leave the store without it. So I promised myself I'd use the paper as soon as I got home.

For my first card, I pulled out the Christmas Topiaries set and stamped the pear topiary. I wanted some golden pears, like the ones wrapped in gold foil from Harry & David's I remember my Dad bringing home at Christmas time. I couldn't find my versamark pen, so used a little versamark reinker and a paintbrush to pain in the pot and the pears, then coated with some gold embossing powder and heat embossed. The rest of the tree is colored with copics and then fussy cut.

I embossed the sentiment, which is from the We Three Kings stamp set in gold onto the yellow damask paper from the collection, then sponged with fossilized amber and gathered twigs distress ink.  I used the same inks to sponge around the beautiful pine cone paper, then kept the layout pretty simple to allow that paper to shine.  A bit of lace trim and some kraft mats finish things off.

For my next card, I wanted to use some of the scraps I had leftover from the two yellow papers, so pieced them together with a couple other strips of paper from the pack to form my background.  The flower image is from the beautiful Christmas Botanicals set and I colored with Copics and then pulled out some gold glimmer metallic ink from Hero Arts to add a bit more shine. Here's a picture that shows off some of that shine.

I used the same sentiment from We Three Kings, this time embossing on vellum, then finished the card off with a vellum bow.  I also stamped and colored another leaf and berry sprig from the Christmas Botanicals set and tucked it in underneath the bow.
