Easy Does It

Howdy everyone! Today I'm sharing with you a super simple card set I made for my Mom's birthday. My focus was to make a set that was quick, cheap to mail (no embellishments), and would appeal to my mom's no-fuss personality. Although the cards have no frills, have lots of white space and aren't my usual style, I think they still turned out pretty nice - and my mom really liked them.

To begin, I cut and embossed the squares, circles, rectangles and ovals with Nestabilities and white cardstock. Next I cut Sahara sand mats for all the shapes and then larger black scalloped mats for each shape.

Next I cut a piece of Sahara sand into four 2" x 4" strips. I then cut smaller pieces of SU! Ginger Blossom paper to mat on top of the Sahara Sand, and larger pieces of black for the outer mat. Then I stamped the Psalm 37:4 verse on each shape, layered the shapes together and then used a black pen to add a dotted border to the Sahara Sand layer for each shape. After that it was just a matter of gluing everything down on 4.25" x 5.5" card bases. Easy peasey!

I think the best handmade gifts are created with the recipient's taste in mind, even if it's not the artist's usual style. That said, this set is absolutely phenomenal. Simplicity at its very, very best!! Thanks so much for sharing. I can see CASEing this idea for many different occasions!

These are very elegant and an excellent example of how the same stamp can be used on all four shapes - oval, circle, square and rectangle! Fabulous!

Julee! I know they're simple, but they're fabulous. They're so striking with the pretty patterns, all that white and the pop of black. I REALLY like these.

I really like the simplicity of this collection. I am not surprised that our mom liked them. I would as well, easy to duplicate but all have their own pizzazz :)
